On of most commonly held beliefs is that celebrity endorsement adds more effectiveness to the brand’s claim. And as Bollywood is the top most craze in India, it serves as the perfect base for best brands to pick its ambassadors. In this process, companies invest huge amounts to establish their brand image with the help of their celebrity endorser.

But have you ever wondered what prompts Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and other celebs to hop from one advertising frame to another? The reason is simple; the celebs are raking in more money through these endorsements than their movies.

According to an Economic Times report, Bollywood A lister Aamir Khan charges an exorbitant fee of Rs 5 crore daily. However, the actor doesn't sign up for every brand endorsement offer that comes his way. Requesting anonymity, a celebrity manager told the ET that "Aamir is very selective. He studies your marketing plan, gets into its details, even uses the product to see if it lives up to all the promises the marketing team is making in the campaign."

Let’s have a look at two recent celebrity deals that the ET has quoted in its report to see how lucrative these endorsements are for big stars. “Snapdeal, recently, signed up Aamir Khan for Rs 30 crore while Rasna got Akshay Kumar on board for Rs 18 crore in a three-year deal,” the financial daily disclosed.

Know when we are talking about Aamir, so let’s see how much money does his nearest competitor in endorsement space, Shah Rukh Khan, takes home. Well, as compared to Aamir, King Khan charges a little less and that is around Rs 3.5-4 crore a day. The brands which Shah Rukh endorses range from paints to e-commerce to liquor. "SRK feels he is bigger than the brand he is endorsing so the brand will benefit from his association. His model is totally different," the celebrity manager, who was quoted above, told ET.

Apart from Bollywood, the next thing that more Indians are crazy about is cricket. And Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni is the most favorite among brands from this arena. Dhoni earns around Rs 12 crore per year, which requires usually 3-4 days of work. On the other hand, Virat Kohli currently charges Rs 1.75 crore per day, the ET report said.

So the next time you see any advertisement on TV, imagine how much money these brands put in. (Image: Bollywoodlife.com)
