1. Twitter cofounder Evan Williams has laid off one-third of staff at his publishing platform Medium and closed two offices. The downsizing comes as the company looks to change its business model after it felt that it was "falling short" of its original goals.

2. Apple has taken down New York Times apps in China after a government request. China was the app's second largest market after the US.

5. Amazon is launching its own athleisure brand. The retail giant is hiring for brand managers to help launch a line of activewear.

8. The former CEO of Adblock Gabriel Cubbage has left the company to run tours of the Kingdom of Bhutan. Cubbage got the inspiration for his new company after experiencing a 12-day guided tour of the Kingdom of Bhutan, according to an email sent to his contacts, seen by Business Insider.

9. Speculation is mounting that Mark Zuckerberg wants to serve in government. He plans to tour US states, and recent court filings said he is interested in public office.
