EA Sports distances itself from David Dobrik in light of a rape allegation against a former Vlog Squad member
- David Dobrik's Vlog Squad is embroiled in controversy following an Insider investigation.
- EA Sports, which once gave Dobrik a Lamborghini, said it has no future plans to work with him.
- The statement comes after SeatGeek, a major Dobrik sponsor, said it would review their partnership.
The company that once gifted David Dobrik a brand new Lamborghini Huracán has distanced itself from the influencer after a woman said she was raped by a Vlog Squad member in 2018, the night the group filmed a video about group sex.
An EA Sports spokesperson told Insider on Friday that the company was aware of the allegations towards Dobrik and the Vlog Squad.
"We haven't worked with David since April 2020 and can confirm we are not currently working with him nor do we have any plans to in future," the spokesperson said. "We expect any influencer or celebrity talent we work with to conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with EA's values and policies."
In August 2019, Dobrik received the Lamborghini model Evo Spyder for an advertisement in one of his famous 4-minute-and-20-second vlogs. According to Forbes, this model starts at $287,400. Dobrik gifted it to his friend Heath Hussar.
The statement comes after Insider reported the rape allegation in an investigation published Tuesday.
A woman interviewed by Insider said she was given alcohol by Vlog Squad members and became intoxicated to the point of blacking out. She said she was then involved in group sex with Dominykas Zeglaitis, known as "Durte Dom" online, that she could not consent to. Events from the night of the alleged rape were captured in a since-deleted video on Dobrik's channel.
Zeglaitis is no longer a member of the Vlog Squad, the rotating group of friends Dobrik features in his massively popular vlogs.
The EA Sports statement follows a similar decision from a prominent sponsor of Dobrik on Thursday. SeatGeek, the ticket-selling service known for its viral partnership with Dobrik that frequently helps him give away cars, told Insider it was "reviewing" its partnership following the allegations.
