Coronavirus hasn't stopped our cops from spreading cheer on social media

Our cops are not just patrolling the streets to ensure that our country is safe, they are also reminding the netizens in the quirky language that they best understand that they are not Harry Potter to be able to ‘weasel’ out of a nationwide quarantine.


Indian police from different metro cities are using trendy ways to remind people not to go out amidst the lockdown that has been imposed in order to curb the spread of the deadly Coronavirus. They have realised the power of social media and are leaving no stone unturned to spread awareness around the pandemic.

While the sentiment around Coronavirus on social media is mostly negative, that’s not the case with our police. They took to Twitter to resonate with today’s youth and urge them to be sensible, alert and safe in the wittiest ways possible. From various pop culture references to turning board games into quirky posts, they have used it all, just to make sure that people understand the gravity of the situation.

For a long time, Mumbai Police has been well-known for using social media in the quirkiest ways. And yet again, it has been going viral for all the right reasons on Twitter. It first broke the internet for its hilarious horoscope that said “For once (and only once), the stars may definitely favour you if you follow these predictions!”.

Upping its game, Mumbai Police borrowed a famous pop culture reference from Friends where Phoebe Buffay tries to teach French to Joey Tribbiani, who utterly fails to follow. It lists down the preventive measures that people should follow until April 14. These included not stepping out, washing hands frequently, not touching the face, and practising social distancing.


However, this time, all metro police have taken an oath to entertain and remind citizens about their safety. Here is how they did it:
