YouTube the most downloaded streaming app globally in May 2020 with India accounting for second highest number of downloads: Sensor Tower

• YouTube saw over 29.3 million installs of the app globally, a 28.3% increase over May 2019.
• The US and India saw the most downloads of the app at 16% and 11.2 % respectively.
• Netflix was the second most installed streaming app worldwide in May with over 23.3 million installs.

YouTube was the most downloaded streaming app worldwide for May 2020, according to Sensor Tower. The month saw over 29.3 million installs of the app across the world, which represented a 28.3% increase from May 2019. While the US saw 16% of the total downloads, India came a close second accounting for close to 11.2% of the total downloads.

Netflix was the second most installed streaming app worldwide last month with more than 23.3 million installs, which was a massive 52.1% jump over the May 2019 figures.

The countries with the largest number of Netflix installs were the US at 17.2%, followed by Brazil at 10.4%. Amazon Prime Video, YouTube Kids, and Twitch rounded out the top five most installed streaming apps worldwide for the month.

The other apps to make it to the top 10 list were Disney+, Tencent Video, Pluto TV, BOOYAH! and Viu.
