YouTube earned $15 billion in ad revenue in 2019, reveals Alphabet

- In Alphabet’s first earnings report since Sundar Pichai took over, the company has revealed that YouTube has made $15 billion in ad revenues in the last three months.
- YouTube currently contributes 10% to Google’s overall revenue.
- Alphabet saw a 17% jump over 2018 in its overall revenue to $46 billion.

YouTube brought home close to $15 billion in ad revenues in 2019 and close to $5 billion in the last quarter, according to Alphabet’s fourth quarter earnings report. This is for the first time that Google revealed how much YouTube ads contribute to Google’s bottom line.Overall, YouTube generated $15 billion and contributed around 10% to Google’s total revenue. It was a 36% increase from $11 billion in the previous year.
Google also revealed that Google Cloud’s revenue stood at $8.9 billion for the year, a 53% increase from $5.8 billion in 2018.
Alphabet saw a 17% jump over 2018 in its overall revenue to $46 billion in the quarter that ended December 31st, 2019. Out of this, around $10.7 billion was profit.
This marks the company's first earnings report since Sundar Pichai took over as CEO of Alphabet, in addition to already heading Google.
