2. Google is testing a "Listen Now" ad feature with the help of Spotify, Rhapsody, and its own Google Play store. When a user searches for an artists through Google, the "listen now" feature allows the user to listen to a clip of the song and then directly click on a specific music player, which takes them directly to that site.

3. Search engine Bing hopes to level the playing field with Google on mobile devices and hopes in the future it will be able to recommend restaurants to users based on their interests. Bing is the official search engine used on the new Amazon Fire phone and it will be integrated into Apple's new software.

4. According to analysis from company Marin Software, Facebook's seasonal ads are outperforming Google's.

5. Mobile advertising is projected to reach $42 billion in 2017, up from today's $18 billion. Ad Exchanger argues that mobile app software development kits (SDKs) are key to the success of mobile advertising. SDKs, similar to cookies online, allow users to be monitored through their mobile devices, from app use to social media interactions.

6. Mashable reports 61% of people are more likely to buy a product from a company that makes its own custom content. Only 27% of marketers, however, know how to effectively track their content.

7. Mobile ad company Millennial Media announced revenue was up 18.1% to $67.3 million this quarter.

Joanna O'Connell, director of research for Ad Exchanger, looks at Rocket Fuel's recent acquisition of [x+1], a company that uses personal and identifiable first party data to make real time decisions. O'Connell argues there's an opportunity for the two companies to create a "programmatic digital marketing platform," but combining the two platforms may be more difficult than people think.

9. Sizmek, an ad serving platform, acquired Aerify Media, a mobile ad tracking and retargeting company. Media Post reports Sizmek bought the tracking and retargeting platform for $6.25 million.

10. Twitter's numbers report that nearly 14% of users access the social media platform through a third party app. This means that a significant number of Twitter users don't see any ads.
