This is Eiji Aonuma, the main visionary behind the recent "The Legend of Zelda" games, discussing the new "Legend of Zelda" back in 2014.
During this video, Aonuma says, "It’s quite a vast world, isn’t it? You can even reach those mountains in the distance, if you walk far enough."
Here are Link and his horse, Epona, surveying the peaceful landscape.

Isn't it gorgeous? It's hard to imagine this looking much better on an updated console.
But, of course, since the world of "The Legend of Zelda" is full of danger, it was only a matter of time before they were pursued by a fearsome beast.

Later, in December of 2014, Aonuma showed a hands-on demo of the game with Shigeru Miyamoto, a legendary designer behind almost every major Nintendo franchise.
Here, Aonuma is showing off Link's "sailcloth," which lets him cover long distances through the air as he softly floats to the ground.

In this video, Aonuma emphatically says the game will be out "next year," meaning 2015. It's now been delayed to 2017.
Nintendo has confirmed that "The Legend of Zelda" will be its one and only playable game at E3 this June.
Unfortunately, Nintendo has said NX will not have a presence at E3 this year. But maybe, just maybe, we will get our first glimpse of what "The Legend of Zelda" will look like running on that upgraded hardware.
Given how gorgeous its looked the past two times we've seen it, it's hard to imagine "The Legend of Zelda" looking much better, but I look forward to being proven wrong.
