Valve announced a new game called Counter-Strike 2, the updated version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO). This news has excited many gamers, and they are playing Counter-Strike more often now. The new game will be released in the summer of 2023. Today, we will explain how to play the early version of the game (beta) and share tips on increasing your chances of being invited to test it.

We will also explain the steps to follow to access the Counter-Strike 2 limited beta test.

To find out if you've been invited to play Counter-Strike 2 Beta, follow these steps
  • To start, launch Steam and download Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (which is free) if you haven't already done so. Even though Counter-Strike 2 will replace CS: GO in the future, you still need to have CS: GO installed to receive an invite for CS2. Remember that invitations for Counter-Strike 2 are only accessible through the existing CS: GO game.
  • Next, open Counter-Strike: Global Offensive from your Steam library. I assume you're already a Steam user and have played CS: GO before. If you haven't, it might take a while before you can get access to the Counter-Strike 2. This is because Valve is currently prioritizing players who have established a good trust factor in CS: GO, and your recent playtime on official Valve servers is also considered.
  • Once you're in the CS main menu, you'll be notified if you've been chosen for the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Access beta. This is assuming that you've been selected. You can see the option for players invited by Valve for the CS2 beta in the tweet below (courtesy of Twitter/HLTV.org). Remember that anyone can get access to the Counter-Strike 2 limited test, not just professionals and influencers who have been streaming the game.
  • After you sign up for the Counter-Strike 2 limited test, Steam will begin downloading CS2 onto your computer. Once the installation is complete, you can choose between CS: GO and CS2 when you click ‘Play’ in Steam.
Don't worry if you weren't selected for the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test. Valve has confirmed that they will be adding more players to the testing soon, and they haven't mentioned anything about requiring a Prime status. This means that even if you don't have Prime status, you could still have a chance to access CS2 Beta.
