Electric two-wheeler sales crater in April 2024 as prices increase amid reduced subsidies

The sales of electric two-wheelers have come crashing down just a month after recording the best-ever monthly sales numbers in March 2024. This comes amid the end of the FAME subsidy scheme which has resulted in an increase in prices of electric scooters. While the boost in sales in March 2024 was fueled by an expected increase in prices and push by companies to sell more scooters before the end of FY, the significant decline might be a concern for EV makers.

April auto sales – Hyundai continues to hold the second position as Tata Motors inches closer

Hyundai continued to occupy the second position in India’s car market, with Tata Motors taking the third position for the second consecutive month after capturing the second position for a month in February 2024. The reason why we are only talking about the second position in auto sales and not the top spot is because Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate it by a big margin. The Indian automaker enjoys a market share of over 40%.
