Xiaomi launches Redmi Note phablet
Ever since Xiaomi set foot in India, it has never looked back. One after the other, it attracted Indians with its phones and other devices. And now, the Chinese smartphone maker has announced the successor to its much popular Redmi Note phablet- Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime. Both the phablets are first ones that will run on Xiaomi's latest MiUi 7 user interface based on Android lollipop. Xiaomi has worked on the design and weight of the Redmi Note 2 and it is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor.
Both, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime sport a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and a 3,060mAh battery. They come with a 13MP rear camera that boasts of phase detection autofocus, shutter speed of 0.1 second, f2.2 aperture and 5-element lens. Other common features include a 5MP front facing camera, WiFi ac, WiFi Direct, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and Infrared port.
Redmi Note 2 is powered by a 2Ghz octa core Helio X10 Mediatek processor, 2GB RAM and comes in storage variant of 16 or 32GB storage. Xiaomi also announced two versions of the Redmi Note 2 in terms of connectivity, a cheaper variant with 3G connectivity is priced at CNY 799 (Rs 8,000 approx.) and a 4G version priced at CNY 899 (Rs 9,000 approx.).
Redmi Note 2 Prime only comes in a 32GB storage with 4G connectivity on both SIM slots. While the processor remains the same Helio X10, the Redmi Note 2 Prime gets a 2.2GHz octa core version. The phone is priced at CNY999 (Rs 10,000 approx.).
All the three phones would be up for sale in China from August 16 2015. Xiaomi would be announcing the date of availability of the products in India next week.
