Woman Rescued From Collapsed Bangladesh Factory After 17 Days

“As we made an announcement before starting to break the slab asking whether there was anyone alive in there, we heard someone groan,” said a rescuer whose name could not be learnt immediately.
As they jubilant rescuers inquired about her condition, she said she was not much hurt, said the rescuers.
“Reshma,” she replied in a feeble voice, as they asked her name.

screenshotThe collapse was the world's worst industrial accident since the Bhopal disaster in India in 1984.
"She has been located in a gap between a beam and a column," Fire service chief Ahmed Ali told the Independent. "She may have reserves of water or have drunk some of the water that we've pumped into the building,"
The Associated Press notes that more than 2,500 people were rescued in the immediate aftermath of the country's worst building collapse, and the death toll has reached more than 1,000 — officials say 1,038 and counting.
"We are trying to cut through the basement floor. This is very hard. More bodies are coming out," Brig. Gen. Mohammed Siddiqul Alam Shikder, an army official overseeing the recovery work, said. "We will need more time to complete as we are trying to recover more bodies."
CBS News correspondent Kelly Cobiella reports that it has been 13 days since the last person was rescued from the rubble.
Remarkably, Reshma has been saved 408 hours after the collapse.
