"Free Basics is no longer available to people in India," said a Facebook spokesperson.

After TRAI rejected Free Basics, Reliance Communications has decided to make Facebook's Free Basics platform a paid one.

As per reports, RCom, which is the only distributor of Free Basics in India, had said that subscribers will have to pay applicable data charges for accessing websites or apps through the zero-rated Free Basics platform.

TRAI had asked the telecom player to dismiss the service.
