Shares of the IT firm Wipro rallied more than 3% in intra-day trade on Tuesday after it sealed a $400 million-plus (Rs 2,400 crore) deal with Takeda Pharma, under which the former will develop and support the IT requirements of the Japanese company.

The deal, described as a ‘strategic partnership’ to provide IT infrastructure to the pharma company, will add to Wipro's revenues immediately, according to a senior executive.

"We are thrilled to partner with Takeda and it has many firsts," said Sangita Singh, chief executive of the healthcare and life sciences business unit at Wipro.
