Explained: Admission process for undergraduate courses in Delhi University for the year 2019

DU, expanded as Delhi University is the dreamland for a large number of youth to pursue their collegiate courses. Considered among the high-profile educational institutions in the country, Delhi University has a big charm about it among the learners. Here is a detailed process of admission to DU.

Delhi University counseling happens through offline mode. Students can seek admissions in Delhi University for UG, PG and doctoral courses across a range of disciplines. The university organizes entrance examinations to prepare the merit list for the sake of providing admissions to students. Here are the different stages of the admission process.

Admission to DU is purely based on merit and the process of admission will take off once the admission list or cut off is released by the university.

Students need to choose the course that they wish to pursue and then apply for admission. Students can access the DU Counseling through offline mode.

Depending on the seats availability, the counseling is organized in different rounds. The admission process will also consist of GD and PI rounds.

DU cut-off is generally released in the 3rd week of June 2019. The university releases independent cut-off lists for science, arts and commerce courses. The cut-off can be defined as the minimum marks that the candidates are expected to score in order to successfully get through the entrance test and qualifying examination. To understand the admission process, we can divide the courses with DU into two kinds namely merit based courses and entrance test based courses.

Detailed admission process for merit based courses

Every candidate seeking admission must register online. The candidate details will have to be entered in the online forms found on the official site for admission to DU.

After registration, the cut off list will be published. On the centralized web portal, the candidates can check their cut-off. Only those candidates who have scored marks as per the prescribed cut off can move forward with the admission process.

Once the candidates select the preferences, the admission form will be generated.

Candidates are needed to fill in and get the admission forms along with the documents asked for to the respective college.

The college will verify the documents and will approve the admission through the UG admission portal. The candidates can then confirm their admission and make the payment online.

Detailed admission process for entrance test based courses

Once the results are announced, the merit list will be published online. The allotment of seats will be based on the rank and availability of seats in the colleges.

The candidates need to print out the admission form and report to the college where the admission has been allotted. The documents submitted by the candidates supporting the admission form will all be checked and verified by the college.

Once the documents are verified, the college will confirm the admission. The candidates can then pay the fees online through the admission portal. If the candidates fail to report to the college on the date and time prescribed, they will never be considered for the subsequent admission rounds.
