The festive season has ended and now you are staring at your bloated self. The festival season threw your diet and fitness plans out of the window and you could not stop yourself from munching on festive treats, sweets and oily food.

If you could not even hit the gym because of late night parties, you will have to get back to your fitness regime ASAP.

Sujetha Shetty, nutritionist at Gympik, which is an online fitness platform, said, “People let themselves lose and binge on sweets, foods with ghee and too much oil.”
But, don’t worry, this is not the end of the world and you can shed those extra kilos and go back to your fitness regime.

To begin with, go back to your nutritious diet.

Akshay Verma, co-founder of Fitpass, said, “Nutrition is an important part of staying fit. Introduce healthy options in your diet and eliminate fatty and sugary food. Quality control is just as important as portion control.”

Focus on eating healthy such as green veggies, fruits and lean meats.

“Give yourself some time to take those kilos off your body. To compensate for those extra weights, include more of fresh fruits and vegetables, lentils, fibres and fluids in your diet,” said Shetty.

But, you also need to focus on exercising.

“Zumba is a great workout to lose some extra weight. Other workouts like spinning, crossfit and kickboxing also burn calories fast. A combination of different workouts is the best way to burn fat fast,” said Verma.

Shetty also suggested to start with walking or slow jogging.

“There is no concept of spot reduction when it comes to losing weight. So, find out what exercise suits you the best and get started,” she said.
