Due to the advent of technology and the widespread use of the internet, kids are not playing outdoors anymore, realized former cricketer Nitesh Kulkarni.

Adamant to provide the younger generation with some much needed inspiration towards sports, Kulkarni, also the founder of International Institute of Sports Management decided to make a video, called Sports Heroes.

He got cricketing legends Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar, tennis players Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza, football player Bhaichung Bhutia, shooter Gagan Narang, hockey legend Dhanraj Pillay and wrestler Sushil Kumar to come together and sing the national anthem, in occasion of India’s Republic Day.

Plus, there’s no better way to inspire kids to take up sports than by having Sachin Tendulkar tell them the importance of sports.

"When you sing the 'Jana Gana Mana', your head is always held high, but when you sing it (standing) in the centre of the ground, then...seena chauda ho jata hai (chest swells with pride)," Tendulkar also added.

The video that was launched yesterday has already become popular with the youth and is being widely shared on social networking sites.
