In 2001, Farhan Akhtar’s debut Dil Chahta Hai assumed the reputation of a cult classic for one simple reason- it accurately depicted the joys and struggles of twenty-somethings.

It showed us how it was mandatory for us to have our lives in order just because we graduated from college. It provided a glimpse into our relationships and busted the myth of falling for an older woman. It was okay to screw up, to have broken hearts and to love too deeply or to not, at all.

And, ofcourse, the stunning imagery of Goa, helped.

Fast forward to 14 years later, when times have changed and so have priorities, desires et al, but what has remained unchanged are the expectations of parents.

What continues to matter to them are their children’s academics, and not their talents.

You are known by the percentage you score, and regardless of what greatness is bestowed next to your name, you’ll still be the guy who scored 65% and not 95% to them.

Thus, in 2015, The Unglis, an online comedy group decided to give us a sneak-peek into the lives of twenty-somethings of today and what they really want with a spoof of Dil Chahta Hai

Have our dreams and desires really changed? And, just because our priorities are steeped in a little bit of fun, does it mean, we’re good for nothing?

Have a look at ‘Chill Chahta Hai’ and decide for yourself!
