The spacecraft undocked and fired its engines to push away from the space station. It then spent about five hours orbiting the Earth before it reached the right placement to begin its landing in the Atlantic ocean. The Crew Dragon's main rocket engines fired to slow down the spacecraft so it could drop down from the sky.

The spacecraft then finally splashed down in the ocean off the coast of Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

No people were on board the spacecraft as the mission was a demonstration, but NASA said the mission was "critically important" to show that the vehicle is safe to fly.
