The next gen Ford Endeavour has been launched at a starting price of 24.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). This big beefy SUV with it’s all new design and class-leading features aims to topple current segment leader Toyota Fortuner.

The numbers don’t lie. The new Ford Endeavour is huge. Period. It measures 4,892mm in length, 1,860mm in width, and 1,837mm in height.

However, the wheelbase is shorter at 2,850mm and the ground clearance is higher at 225mm. The 2015 Ford Endeavour is based on Ford's T6, and has a curvy body. The front has a huge chrome grille with projector head-lamps and DRLs.

Ford is offering the Endeavour with two engine variants - the 2.2 and 3.2-litre. The 2.2 TDCi is available in Trend 2WD/4WD manual or 2WD automatic and Titanium 2WD automatic. It develops 157bhp and a maximum torque of 385Nm. The 3.2 TDCi is only available in 4WD automatic. It churns out 196bhp of power.

The interiors are loaded with top-class features like voice control functionality, dual-zone AC-automatic climate control, power folding 3rd row, terrain management, and so on.

This Terrain Management System is a badass. It lets you control how the car behaves based on the surface it drives on. The options include ‘Rock’, ‘Snow/Mud’ and ‘Sand’.

In terms of safety, the Endeavour gets dual front airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags and driver knee airbags along with ABD with EBD. You also have electronic stability programme, traction control system, hill launch and decent assist, and Ford MyKey among others.

The SUV is open in 6 color options, and we think Ford has played their cards right, with the Endeavour costing about a lakh less than the Fortuner.

Way to go Ford!
