The Nifty and the Sensex staged a smart recovery after the EU and Greece reached a deal on how to prevent the latter's exit from the continental union by agreeing to a bailout provided the pact was agreed upon by Athen's Parliament.

MAJOR INDICES

Nifty gained 1.1 percent at 8,453 points.
Sensex jumped 1.1 percent to 27,969 points.
Bank Nifty added 0.7 percent at 18,847 points.
CNX Mid Cap Index: rose 1 percent to 13,396 points.
CNX Small Cap Index up 0.9 percent to 5,549 points.
CNX IT Index surged 1.6 percent to 10,975 points.
