In one of its biggest rescue operations, various government agencies and the armed forces helped evacuate around 75,000 flood-affected people. This includes 66,000 people from Kolhapur and Sangli districts.
More than 54,000 people were shifted from Sangli, another 12,000 were moved from Kolhapur. Also, 3,000 people from Pune and 6,000 others from Solapur, Raigad, Ratnagiri and other districts were also moved from their flood-affected homes, said the officials.
