Presidential candidate and US Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) had an awkward exchange Wednesday while discussing foreign policy at the Atlantic Council think tank.

When Graham took questions from the audience, a co-founder of the liberal activist group Code Pink challenged him with a multi-part question that lasted over two minutes, according to video posted by the conservative Washington Free Beacon

"I'm just horrified by your foreign policy because it's a prescription for endless war," began the Code Pink activist, Medea Benjamin.

She proceeded to press Graham on a wide range of Middle East topics, including the US military budget, the Islamic State (also known as ISIS), Iraq, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Bahrain, Yemen, Egypt, Israel, and Palestine.

About one minute into the question, Graham unsuccessfully attempted to interrupt Benjamin. About two minutes in, the audience started jeering and booing. It seems she lost her microphone not long after that.

Graham then made light of the situation by suggesting the Code Pink activist might end up voting for him in 2016.

"So I'm going to put her down as 'undecided,'" he quipped.

The South Carolina senator, an ardent foreign policy hawk, proceeded to accuse her worldview of being naïve and dangerous.

"I think people like you make the world incredibly dangerous. I think people like you are radical Islam's best hope," he told her. "They represent a form of religion that is every much as dangerous as the Nazis were. They are an outlier in their faith and I'm going to help people in that faith crush this movement."
