Pitching should be second nature to startup founders. Henry Ward, founder and CEO of Carta, a company that helps with equity and ownership management, used his pitching skills to raise $448 million through five rounds of funding. Carta is currently valued at $1.7 billion.
In this webinar, Business Insider correspondent Shana Lebowitz talks to Ward about the art of the pitch deck. The CEO discusses the tactics he used as a new founder to build his confidence around pitching. He initially based his strategy around a book on the presentation secrets of Steve Jobs, which he recommends twice during the webinar.
When it comes to pitching, Ward says, "I can do it in my sleep now." He pitches 12 to 15 times a week, and modifies his pitches according to his audience and the time constraints in place.
Ward applies his experience raising nearly half a billion dollars to address concerns from founders as well.
