Want To Travel To Outer Space? This Decade Will Change The Face Of Space Travel

Earth has demarcations, but space has always looked mysterious and inviting. Still, the way things are developing, it won’t be long before countries split it up among themselves. Or has it been done already? Today, three nations have evinced interest in exploring space. And each of these countries is probably at the neck of one another.

USA, Russia and Germany are emerging as big players in space technology exploration and utilisation of space for various purposes. A recent addition to this list is China, which seems to be keen on cleaning up all the debris that has been left behind by satellites and astronauts. These hazardous pieces are still orbiting the Earth. According to NASA, debris in the space has already reached a critical level and needs to be cleared up immediately.

The total mass of debris in space amounts to over 6,300 tonnes. This should be easy to understand when we are told that a piece of debris, as small as 0.2 mm, can be threatening to Earth, and we have left really large pieces of waste floating in space.

But why this increased interest in space? Well, space is the next natural destination after humans have done the Earth and her resources to death. This opinion was echoed at the recently concluded International Astronautical Congress, held in Beijing, China.

Fear of the unknown has always made us feel uneasy. But for some, this largely unexplored terrain called space offers a bag of exciting business opportunities with huge returns. Either way, space would certainly be under some sort of surveillance, and under tremendous pressure to withstand some trail-and-error trips by ever-inquisitive humans.

This is a favourable situation for China to get in. The Chinese, who can always sense an opportunity, are aiming at a spaceship with self-sweeping mechanism that can clear the space debris.

The Chinese are not working on space tech exclusively. America is busy drawing up futuristic plans in this area since long – almost on par with Russia, which had once monopolised the territory of space sciences.

Space is still not very safe for travelling and returning home in one piece could be a matter of luck. We still remember the space shuttle Columbia and its astronauts who were reduced to cinders in the midair when the spaceship entered the Earth’s orbit with one of its tiles peeling off and the tremendous heat engulfed it entirely.

Having said that, it is pretty natural to wonder whether space could entice enough number of people to line up for a one-way travel package (all costs included, we guess). But hell, no! The riskier it is, the more adventurous it gets for some diehards. So in each country, we have a few thousands who have booked their journey to space when the travel circuit begins to operate.

What happens when space turns into a travel destination? First things first – it turns into an amusement park that will boast some awesome facilities. Hence, the ‘face of space’ is all set to change for good. No matter who gets the first ticket as a tourist, the space will be under surveillance from that time. It will be constantly monitored and will eventually turn into another expensive destination. And we will always feel at home in space. After all, the familiar garbage problem is already present there!
