Volkswagen emission scandal: The company apologise to India

Volkswagen has come out with an apology to its Indian consumers and dealers for the inconvenience caused due the emission scandal that the company was involved in.

Jurgen Stackmann, board member for global sales and marketing - passenger cars at Volkswagen, said the company is committed to win back the trust of customers by voluntarily recalling all diesel cars with EA 189 engines, which were implicated in the US.

"I am fully aware that the most important task for the Volkswagen brand is to solve the global emission levels issue," Stackmann said at the launch of sub-four metre sedan, the Volkswagen Ameo, in Delhi on Tuesday. "Volkswagen made some big mistakes and I am truly sorry and I apologise to our valued customers, authorities, dealers. I assure you, we are committed to making things right."

He added that after examining the issue carefully, it can be safely concluded that their cars fully comply to the Indian emission standards and regulations.
