Indian Liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who has fled the country after being named a wilful defaulter by several state-run banks, has sought time till April for to appear before the ED in person. Doing this, he has virtually made it clear that he would not present himself before the anti-money laundering agency in connection to the summons issued in the IDBI bank loan default case.

As per officials from the Enforcement Directorate, he has approached the investigating officer saying that he would not be able to keep tomorrow's date, seeking time till April.

Agency officials are considering options and going through the reply and reasons that are cited by Mallya in his communication before taking a final decision.

Meanwhile, ED has also written to the 17-bank consortium led by SBI, whose money Mallya owes, about this.
