Victoria's Secret Is Looking Into Making Mastectomy Bras After Online Petition Goes Viral

Allana Maiden was frustrated that her mother Debbie Barrett, a breast-cancer survivor, had trouble finding bras that fit.

She decided to take matters into her own hands and start a Change.org petition in mid-January asking Victoria's Secret to manufacture a mastectomy bra. Soon, she had more than 118,000 signatures.

Maiden and her mother presented their petition to Victoria's Secret, and now the brand is considering offering a breast cancer survivor line.

"When the company got wind of the petition, Maiden said, it began to look into the issue, and it plans to fly the mother-daughter team to Limited Brands headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, to discuss ideas with researchers and executives," reports Nina Strochlic at The Daily Beast.

Barrett, who had breast cancer 21 years ago, said she drives more than an hour to buy a special bra that costs more than $70.

"It’s this huge task just to go get a bra, and I wanted her to have a more positive, normal experience with bra shopping like I get to have,” Maiden told Strochlic.
