Osama bin Laden is seen in this still image taken from a video released on September 12, 2011.

Osama bin Laden's compound apparently contained some unexpected reading material.

On Tuesday, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence release a trove of documents found at the slain al Qaeda leader's compound. And among the items listed were video game guides:

  • Delta Force Extreme 2 Videogame Guide
  • Game Spot Videogame Guide
  • Grappler's Guide to Sports Nutrition by John Berardi and Michael Fry
  • Guinness Book of World Records Children's Edition 2008 (scans of several pages from)
  • Is It the Heart You Are Asking? by Dr. Islam Sobhi al-Mazeny (suicide prevention guide)
  • Silkscreening Instructions

According to the ODNI, however, these items were "probably" not used by bin Laden himself. There were a number of other residents at the Pakistani compound where bin Laden was killed by US forces in May of 2012.

Many English-language books were also reportedly retrieved from the compound, including relatively prominent tomes like "Obama's Wars" by Bob Woodward and "The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers" by Paul Kennedy.
