Urjit R Patel to replace Raghuram Rajan as the New RBI Governor

Urjit Patel has been appointed the next Reserve Bank of India Governor. 52 year Patel was the RBI Deputy Governor prior to this elevation. Notably, Raghuram Rajan's term is ending in September.

Patel (born 28 October 1963) is an eminent economist, consultant and banker. He was also Advisor of the Boston Consulting Group.

As Deputy Governor of RBI, Dr Patel looked after Monetary Policy, Economic Policy Research, Statistics and Information Management, Deposit Insurance, Communication and Right to Information.
