Uber customers and drivers are furious after a major outage causes all kinds of issues
- Uber drivers and customers were angry with the company Tuesday after an apparent service outage.
- The issue appeared to affect everything from food deliveries to car rides.
- There were still lingering outages Tuesday morning, according to DownDetector.
Uber appears to have suffered a major service outage on Monday evening stretching into Tuesday morning.
DownDetector, a service that monitors website functionality, shows a large spike in issues around 5 pm Eastern Time Monday evening. Drivers and customers confirmed the outrage on Twitter, Reddit and more.
It's not clear exactly how many locations or services were affected. An Uber spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
"Was on a ride and it wouldn't show any info aside from arrival time," one driver said on Reddit. "Afterwards I was trying to view the receipt and it wasn't showing the trip."
Another added that orders were being placed at a restaurant, but no drivers were coming to deliver them.
"I was in the middle of a delivery," said one person on down detector. "Went to pick up the order and couldn't pull up the address for delivery. I called support number and was on hold for 20 minutes. Never got help."
The app was back online in some cities, including reports in Florida and Texas early Tuesday, yet others said it was still down in Minnesota and Connecticut. The map also shows issues in Australia and Europe.
"I was wondering what happened," another driver said on reddit. "I've been stuck on the same trip for over an hour and can't access anything."
