A lot of people have preconceptions about Islam - many of them negative - but how accurate are they?

As anti-Islam rhetoric is prominent in Europe and the US at the moment, as shown by Donald Trump's latest comments, but one social experiment has challenged people's preconceived ideas and proven not only how little people know about Islam, but also about Christianity.

Two Dutch YouTubers, Sacha Harland and Alexander Spoor, bought a copy of the Bible and disguised it as the Quran. They then read out passages to members of the public, and the results were eye-opening.

The video has already gone viral with over five million views and more than 56,000 likes.

They began by reading violent verses from the book of Leviticus and Timothy, such as "if two men sleep with each other they will both have to be killed," taken from Leviticus 20:13.

The people who had passages read to them reacted with shock, branding the passages "ridiculous" and "unbelievable," before comparing it to what they called a "less harsh" bible. One woman even called on Muslims to "adapt" to today's world.

"Hearing this, I would think the Quran is more aggressive," said one person.

But the biggest surprises came when the YouTubers revealed where they were getting the quotes from, perhaps showing that people not only know very little about the Islam, but also about Christianity.

"It's all just prejudice really. I always try not to be prejudiced myself but apparently I already am," said one man, while another stressed the importance of "thinking rationally when it comes to these things."
