Rational or irrational, from now on Gurgaon will be known as Gurugram. Yes, the Millennium City which houses some 250 Fortune 500 companies got its name out of epic roots.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar-led government said he was keeping his promise made during elections and changed the name to Gurugram as Guru Dronacharya, the guru of the Pandavas in the Mahabharata, had his ashram here.

The news came as a rude shock to people of the Millennium City, especially those who were sitting at Cyberhub and sipping pinacoladas, who also suddenly realised they were in Gurugram now.

People of ‘Gurugram’ were not even recovering from the news when Twitter took potshots at the government and the name
