Tucker Carlson tells Fox viewers that the 'ruling class' cares 'far more about foreigners' than 'their own people' in monologue on immigration
- Tucker Carlson on Monday claimed the outrage on the left over the Trump administration's separation policy is "performance art" and told his viewers that the "ruling class" doesn't really care about migrant families being separated at the border.
- "This is one of those moments that tells you everything about our ruling class. They care far more about foreigners than their own people," Carlson said.
- According to Carlson, the left's case against the family separation policy is flawed because they don't show the same concern for the children of US citizens who end up behind bars.
Tucker Carlson on Monday claimed the outrage on the left over the Trump administration's separation policy is "performance art" and told his viewers that the "ruling class" doesn't really care about migrant families being separated at the border.
"The rich and powerful are reminding you just how virtuous they are," Carlson said. "You think any of these people really care about family separation? If they did they'd be worried about the collapse of the American family, which is measurable and real. But they're not worried about that. In fact, they welcome that collapse because strong families are an impediment to their political power."
Carlson, a millionaire hosting one of the top-rated programs on cable news, added, "This is one of those moments that tells you everything about our ruling class. They care far more about foreigners than their own people."
According to Carlson, the left's case against the family separation policy is flawed because they don't show the same concern for the children of US citizens who end up behind bars. He also seemed to suggest that people who don't have children can't really care about them in a serious way.
The Fox News host stuck to the White House line, blaming the issue on Democratic politicians and their allies.
Carlson concluded with an ominous warning to his viewers.
"No matter what they tell you this is not about helping children... Their goal is to change your country forever and they're succeeding, by the way," he said, adding that if they complain, the left will "call you Hitler."
Carlson's monologue was similar in tone to tweets from President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning.
Trump tweeted, "Democrats are the problem. They don't care about crime and want illegal immigrants, no matter how bad they may be, to pour into and infest our Country, like MS-13. They can't win on their terrible policies, so they view them as potential voters!"
Department of Homeland Security numbers show that roughly 2,000 migrant children have been separated from their parents or guardians in a recent six-week period. This "zero tolerance" policy from the Trump administration has led to widespread public outcry and international condemnation.
