Modi, in a series of tweets, lauded Trump’s friendly approach towards India during his presidential campaign.

Trump became the 45th President of the United States, defeating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“America will no longer settle for anything less than the best. We must reclaim our country's destiny. Every single American will have the opportunity to realize his or her fullest potential,” Trump said in his winning speech.

India is keenly following all developments as Trump marches to White House. The last leg of his campaign saw Trump speaking in favour of Indians, delivering messages in Hindi and even calling himself a “great fan of Hindus”.

He also described Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “great man”.

It is to see whether Trump will fulfil his 15-point agenda.
