His announcement comes as a part of strengthening India-US ties and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Washington visit.

"I announce to name one village in India as Trump Village," announced Pathak at a community event in Washington DC. This, he said, is part of his effort to enhance India-US relationship.

The village is being developed in Rajasthan’s Mewat region.

Pathak is a social crusader for sanitation and in his address to the Indian Diaspora, Pathak said he is working to provide affordable sanitation and toilets to the masses and end the practice of manual scavenging.

“The cost of one toilet ranges from USD 25 to USD 500, depending on nature of construction. Technology remains the same,” he said.
