Trump suggests sending 'flying water tankers' to put out the massive fire at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris

• Trump suggested that "flying water tankers" could be used to put out the blaze, which a cathedral spokesperson said started in the spire of the historic monument, which was under construction.

It remains unclear how the building caught fire or how long the blaze has gone on for, but Paris Police confirmed in a tweet that emergency responders were on scene and urged people to stay away from the area.

The New York Times spoke to cathedral spokesperson André Finot, who said the fire was started in the spire of the cathedral. The cathedral is one of Paris's most famous monuments and has been standing for centuries.
