  • President Donald Trump tweeted a New Year's Eve message on Sunday.
  • It was much more positive than his message last year, when he sent a New Year's Eve tweet of "love!" to his "many enemies" and everyone who has "lost so badly."
  • The Commander in Chief is spending the holiday at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where he's been golfing most days.

President Donald Trump is offering a New Year's Eve message, tweeting, "What a year it's been, and we're just getting started."

The positive message stood in contrast to Trump's New Year's Eve tweet last year, when he wished a "Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don't know what to do. Love!"

Trump also tweeted Sunday: "Together, we are MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! Happy New Year!!"

The tweet included a celebratory video recap of the president's first year in office, showing gauzy footage of him meeting with world leaders, visiting disaster victims and giving speeches, all accompanied by inspirational music and clips of Trump speaking.

He had lunch with Florida Gov. Rick Scott "to discuss ongoing hurricane recovery efforts, the need to improve the nation's aging infrastructure and other matters important to Floridians," White House spokeswoman Helen Ferre said.

The White House says Trump has been briefed on New Year's Eve security precautions around the country and will continue to monitor those efforts.

On Sunday, he also tweeted about the protests in Iran, slammed Democrats, and sent his condolences to the victims of a shooting in Colorado and their families.

The president has been playing golf at one of his nearby golf courses over the holidays, and on Friday invited about 60 members of the Coast Guard to join him.
