US President Donald Trump lambasted ex-FBI director James Comey as a "leaker" for making public accounts of his meetings with the president.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he and Vice President Mike Pence are "deeply saddened" about the shooting that occurred at a congressional baseball practice Wednesday morning.

Rep. Steve Scalise, the GOP majority whip, was shot along with several others at a baseball field where the congressional Republican team practices in Alexandria, Virginia.

"The Vice President and I are aware of the shooting incident in Virginia and are monitoring developments closely," Trump said in the statement. "We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of Congress, their staffs, Capitol Police, first responders, and all others affected."

The suspected shooter reportedly was armed with a rifle and scope. He is currently in police custody and is "not a threat," according to Alexandria police.

A congressional aide said Scalise was in stable condition at George Washington University Hospital.
