President Donald Trump is a huge fan of the New York Yankees' big offseason acquisition, outfielder Giancarlo Stanton.
During an appearance on the "Bernie and Sid" show Friday morning, Trump said he believes the 2017 National League MVP "almost can't fail."
Stanton has started the season with a few titanic home runs, but has also recorded 13 strikeouts in 27 plate appearances, leading to boos in early home games.
"The Yankees, what they did with Stanton, famous last words but that's the player that almost can't fail," Trump, a longtime Yankees fan, said on the WABC-AM show with Sid Rosenberg and Bernard McGuirk. "People have said that about players before only to have them bust, but I think that he's gonna be great."
Though Trump is a huge supporter of the Yankees, they may not be in for such good luck with him occupying the White House. It's been roughly 60 years since the Yankees last won a World Series during a Republican administration.
