President Donald Trump interrupted his speech during Thursday's Unleashing American Energy event in Washington to throw a quick jab at CNN.

"Many of us remember the long gas lines and the constant claims that the world was running out of oil and natural gas," said Trump. "Americans were told that our nation could only solve this energy crisis by opposing draconian restrictions on energy production.

"But we now know that was all a big beautiful myth," said Trump. "It was fake. Don't we love that term?"

"What we've learned about 'fake' over the last little while," Trump continued, "Fake news, CNN, fake."

Trump then turned his attention to what may have been a cameraman in the background.

"Whoops, that camera just went off," Trump said as he pointed towards the background. "Ok, you can come back, I won't say. I promise I won't say anything more about you."

Trump's remarks came during the White House's Energy Week, where officials from the Department of Energy promote Trump's energy agenda.

Trump and his allies have been throwing darts at CNN since the 2016 election. The feud escalated more recently, after the White House prohibited video feeds of press briefings earlier this week. On Wednesday evening, CNN senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta railed against Trump, calling him a "purveyor of fake news" and accusing him of "peddling fake news."
