Our passport is our identification in a foreign destination, and that particular piece of document is not equal in power across geographies. Every country’s passport carries a different weight, and the more countries value your passport, the more powerful does it get.
Henley Passport Index recently released the list of the world's most powerful passports for 2024. To no one’s surprise, Singapore ranks number 1 in the list as a Singaporean passport can grant you visa-free access to 195 destinations in the world.
Visa-free access implies that your passport can allow you to travel to foreign destinations without any pre-approved visa or entry permits.
India has also improved its rank from the 2023 index, where it was ranked 84th. This year, India ranks 82nd, along with Senegal and Tajikistan, with visa-free access to 58 countries. The ranking is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which claims to have the most complete and accurate travel information available worldwide
