​Great wall of China, China

Built to safeguard the northern border of China, the total length of all the sections of the Great Wall of China ever constructed adds up to 21,196 km. However, the most preserved section of the Wall currently, constructed during the Ming dynasty, is only about 8,850 km long.

​Chichén Itzá, Mexico

Located in the south-central Yucatán state of Mexico, Chichén Itzá is the ruin of an ancient Mayan city. The buildings that have survived the test of time, like the Warriors' Temple and El Castillo, give a glimpse into the architectural marvel techniques of the Mayans.

Once a centre of an Arab kingdom in ancient times, the ancient city of Petra is located in the southwest part of Jordan. Showcasing impressive architecture and engineering, the unique rock-cut structures of Petra are fascinating even today.

Perched in a narrow saddle between two sharp peaks, this ancient fortress city of the Incas is situated at an elevation of 7,710 ft (2,350 m). Machu Picchu is known as one of the greatest artistic, architectural and land use achievements ever done by humans.

​Christ the Redeemer, Brazil

Located on the top of the summit of Mount Corcovado, Christ the Redeemer is an enormous statue of Jesus Christ, which serves as an emblem for both Rio de Janeiro and the nation of Brazil today. The open arms of Christ in this statue symbolise peace and hope.

​Colosseum, Italy

The Colosseum is an elliptical amphitheatre, also called the Flavian Amphitheatre, which was built under the Flavian emperors of the Roman Empire. Constructed with the purpose of entertainment, it was used to host gladiator fights, animal hunts, and even mock battles.

Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, to immortalise his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died during childbirth in 1631, the Taj Mahal stands as the symbol of love. With a mix of Indian, Persian, and Islamic styles, the Taj Mahal is considered an architectural marvel.
