National parks are areas of land that are set aside by the government to protect nature, wildlife, and cultural heritage. Here is a list of Indian states with the highest number of national parks.

​Madhya Pradesh

With a total of eleven national parks, Madhya Pradesh tops the list for the highest number of national parks in India. Some of the most well-known include Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Panna, and Kuno National Parks.

​Kerala

Kerala ranks second on the list with a total of six national parks. Some of the most well-known include Eravikulam, Periyar, Anamudi Shola, and Silent Valley National Parks.

​Uttarakhand

Similar to Kerala, Uttarakhand is home to six national parks, among which the most renowned are Jim Corbett, Nanda Devi, and Valley of Flowers National Parks.

​Maharashtra

Maharashtra is also home to six national parks, among which the renowned ones are Sanjay Gandhi, Pench and Tadoba National Park.

​West Bengal

West Bengal is next on the list with six national parks. The most well-known ones are Sunderban, which is known for its mangroves and Singalila, which is the highest national park in West Bengal.

​Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is home to five national parks, most of which are situated at high altitudes. The renowned ones are Pin Valley, Great Himalaya and Khirganga National Park.

​Assam

Home to some of India’s rare and endemic species, Assam has a total of five national parks, among which the most well-known ones are Dibru-Saikhowa, Nameri and Manas National Park.

​Rajasthan

Rajasthan has a total of five national parks, among which the renowned ones are Sariska, Ranthambhore and Keoladeo, which is also a UNESCO world heritage site.

Tamil Nadu

Known for their unique and rich biodiversity, Tamil Nadu is home to five national parks, with the most notable being Guindy, Mannar Marine, and Mukurthi National Parks.
