What does the data say

The data used here is taken from the report compiled by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) on the basis of cognisable crimes reported in the cities. The cognisable crime rate gives you the number of cognisable crimes per 1,00,000 people. This report was released in the year 2023 and is based on the data from 2022.

​Kozhikode

In 2023, Kozhikode made it to the list of creative cities under UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network (UCCN). A beautiful coastal city in northern Kerala, it is also known as Calicut. The major tourist attractions here are Sarovaram Bio Park, Kozhikode Beach, Tali Shiva Temple and Regional Science Centre and Planetarium. Also, based on the NCRB list, the rate of cognisable crime in Kozhikode is 397.5, making it the 10th safest city in India.

​Mumbai

Mumbai, also known as the Mayanagri (City Of Dreams), offers a mix of modern culture and rich heritage. Visitors can explore iconic landmarks like the Gateway of India, Elephanta Caves and Siddhivinayak Temple. Also, according to the NCRB report the cognisable crime rate of Mumbai is 376.3 making it the 9th safest city in India.

You can explore places like Sabarmati Ashram, the statue of Unity and the Gandhi Memorial Museum. Also, because of the cognisable crime rate being 360.1 Ahmedabad ranks as 8th safest city in India.
