The Great Northern Food Hall is located in Vanderbilt Hall.
As a food hall, be sure not to mistake it for a market. All of the food is prepared on site and is meant for dining in or take out.
The busiest hours are lunch time and around 9 p.m., an hour before closing.
The bakery, Meyers Bageri, has a wide selection of breads, sandwiches, and pastries.
They also serve flatbreads with a wide range of choices for toppings.
Almanak has a collection of healthy salads, such as the spinach and egg salad that comes with spinach, romaine, soft egg, rye croutons, bacon, and blue cheese dressing.
They also serve a variety of smoothies.
The most popular stand seems to be Open Rye, who specializes in smorrebrod, open-faced sandwiches.
Smorrebrod means "butter and bread" and usually consists of a piece of buttered rye bread with toppings such as meat, fish, cheese, or a combination of the three.
The Grain Bar starts off the day by serving granola food items and serves alcohol after 4 p.m.
If one bar isn't enough to relieve stress from your busy day, the Great Northern Food Hall has two.
During happy hour, you can buy buckets of four beers for $20.
If you are traveling through Grand Central, stop at the Great Northern Food Hall to relax and enjoy delicious Nordic food.
