9 wildly imaginative cars from the 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon

Subaru showed of its STI Performance concept, which the automaker first unveiled at the New York International Auto Show in April 2015.

Mercedes displayed its $130,000 luxury car.

Called the Mercedes-AMG GT S, the car can go from 0 to 60 in just 3.7 seconds.

Toyota also put their S-FR racing concept on display.

We have yet to get any specs on the race car, but it features wide flared fenders and hood vents.

Toyota put this custom car, which is heavily covered in flowers, on display at the show.

Could come in handy at a wedding?

And a Nissan R35 GT-R was given a custom paint job so it appears to be made out of gold.

Artists from Kuhl Racing, a Japanese company that sells original auto parts, outfitted the car with a fiberglass bodykit. Artists drew intricate shape that engravers then carved out on the custom body panels.

Lastly, the car was sprayed gold.

Mercedes-Benz displayed their smart fortwo edition 1 car, which comes with a panoramic sunroof, rear park assist, and a smart radio.

The car costs between $14,650 and $18,480, depending on the type you get.

Mazda showed of its RX-Vision concept car and it comes with the rotary engine the automaker is known for.

Honda took its Type-R — the automaker's highest performance version of Honda Civic made in Japan — and added some red flare to create the Honda Modulo Civic Type-R.
