Fashion icon Tory Burch announced on Instagram over the weekend that she and her boyfriend would be "tying the knot."

But Tory Burch is not like any other person on your Instagram feed.

She and her now-fiance, LVMH CEO Pierre-Yves Roussel, have now been crowned "fashion's newest power couple," by Vanessa Friedman of The New York Times.

On her own, Burch built a multibillion dollar company in under ten years. She's the co-CEO, chairwoman, and head designer of her namesake brand. She's dead set on maintaining her brand's luxury; she stated in late October that she had no plans of taking her brand public.

LVMH is arguably one of the most powerful fashion company in the world. Its long list of subsidiaries include Louis Vuitton, Celine, Fendi, Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Bvlgari, and more.In her piece, Friedman points to several questions that this partnership raises. " Who will make the dress?" She asks, noting that "Tory could design her own, or she could wear an LVMH brand, or she could take a page from Ms. Giannini, the former Gucci creative director, and turn to Valentino."

Friedman also points out that Burch, who recently launched her Tory Sport line, may have an influence on Roussel.

"Mr. Roussel has also been vocal about his interest in the contemporary market in the United States, where Ms. Burch made her name, and he has been a scouting presence at many New York Fashion Week shows. It could be a coincidence, but, well, it's hard to ignore what's all around you. Or the influence of someone you hugely admire," Friedman writes.

Although Burch did not post a photo of her ring in the the post announcing her engagement, she did post a photo on the previous day in which she was wearing an enormous diamond on her ring finger - exactly what you would expect on one-half of a power couple.
