The company's PAT (profit after tax) stood at Rs 930 crore. Notably, without this windfall gain, Paytm's finances would still be in red, with the company racking up losses worth Rs 415 crore. Paytm was in red in the year-ago period as well, incurring losses worth Rs 290.5 crore. This windfall profit also improved Paytm's EBITDA by Rs 388 crore on a QoQ basis. The company's revenue also saw a slight uptick of 10.5% quarterly to Rs 1,659 crore, as opposed to Rs 1,501 crore in the previous quarter. But on a year-on-year basis, Paytm's revenue dipped significantly by 34%. The company also announced that it has entered into a DLG (<keyword id="23641220" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Default-Loss-Guarantee" source="keywords">default loss guarantee</keyword>) model for its merchant loans of about Rs 225 crore with SMFG India Credit. Under this arrangement, Paytm will be first in line to take a hit in case of a loss that emerges from borrowers defaulting or skipping their payments. "Following the regulatory framework and the emerging market practice, we see increased willingness from lenders to partner and allocate more capital in the default loss. The DLG model will help to increase disbursements with the existing partners and expand partnerships with new lenders for the loan distribution,” said the company in its earnings release today. The company's revenue from its payment business also inched up 9% on a quarterly basis, along with its revenue from <keyword id="19976433" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-services" source="keywords">financial services</keyword>, which also grew by 34% QoQ. At present, Paytm's total merchant subscriptions stand at 1.12 crore, with the company garnering 3 lakh new merchants during the quarter. During the previous quarter, Paytm's <keyword id="20253122" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gross-merchandise-value" source="keywords">gross merchandise value</keyword> (GMV) also inched up by 5% on a sequential basis, which experts anticipate will continue in the coming quarters, just as India braces for the festive season. Per its release, Paytm aims to achieve <keyword id="23641219" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="EBITDA-profitability" source="keywords">EBITDA profitability</keyword> (before ESOPs) by the fourth quarter of this financial year. However, investors remained unimpressed with Paytm's performance, with its share slipping by around 3.96% during the day to trade at Rs 697.20. The stock has a YTD (yield-to-date) of 7.91% during the year.

Paytm declares Q2 results, earns Rs 930 crore as windfall gains by way of sale of ticketing business to Zomato

The IPO (initial public offer) of food and grocery delivery behemoth Swiggy is set to open tomorrow and conclude on November 8, 2024. The entire issue is worth Rs 11,327.43 crore and has a fresh issue component of Rs 4,499 crore and an OFS (offer for sale) of about Rs 6,828.43 crore. With a price band of Rs 371-390, retail investors will be required to invest a minimum of Rs 14,820 to get their hands on Swiggy's shares. Swiggy, which will tentatively list on the bourses on November 13, 2024, is seeking to raise Rs 1,952.43 crore more than its rival <keyword id="830092" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zomato" source="Orion">Zomato</keyword>, which went public in July 2021 and was looking to raise Rs 9,375 crore. Zomato's offer was oversubscribed around 38.25 times, with retail investors subscribing 7.45x to the issue. Notably, only around 15% of Swiggy's total issue will be made available to retail investors. Moreover, Swiggy's IPO is not garnering the same buzz if its present GMP (<keyword id="938640" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="grey-market-premium" source="Orion">grey market premium</keyword>) trends are to be believed. The company's last traded GMP was Rs 7, taking its estimated listing price to Rs 397 (upper end of its price band, i.e., Rs 390 + Rs 7), and its potential listing gains per share at a minimal 1.79%. Last week, Swiggy's GMP was at Rs 25, before tumbling to Rs 18, and then momentarily stabilizing at Rs 22 before its steep fall to present levels of Rs 7. <h2>Strengths and weaknesses</h2> Since its inception in 2014, Swiggy's bottom line has been in red, unlike that of its rival Zomato, which turned profitable in the first quarter of FY24. In FY22, its total income was Rs. 6119.78 crore with a net loss of Rs. 3628.90 crore. While the company's total income increased to Rs. 8714.45 crore in FY23, it also spelled a corresponding rise in its net losses, which surged to Rs. 4179.31 crore. The trend varied a little in FY24 when Swiggy's total income rose to Rs 11,634.35 crore while its net loss reduced to Rs. 2,350.24 crore. However, in the first quarter of FY25, ending June 30, 2024, the company's total income stood at Rs 3,310.11 crore and a net loss of Rs. 611.01 crore. While Swiggy did achieve 42.4% revenue growth between FY2022-223, most of its revenue is sourced from the top 50 of the 500 Indian cities it is currently operational in. Even in this regard, Zomato, which operates in around 1,000 cities across India, has an edge. <h2>Some say invest, some say avoid</h2> Some experts are advising against subscribing to this IPO. Per SAMCO Securities, "As of FY 2024, Swiggy Limited continues to operate at a loss, in contrast to its competitor, Zomato Limited, which has recently achieved profitability. Given Swiggy’s current financial position, competitive pressures, associated risks, and valuation, its IPO appears overvalued. Therefore, investors should avoid this IPO until the company’s financial performance and growth outlook improve. Waiting until Swiggy demonstrates improved financial results and a clearer path to sustainable growth would be a more prudent investment approach. Per Bajaj Broking's IPO note, Swiggy's IPO can be subscribed to from a long-term perspective. However, it also highlights that Swiggy's offer document is missing PAT (profit after tax) and RoCE (returns on capital employed) data. "For the last three fiscals, the company has reported an average EPS of Rs - (14.90) and an average RoNW of - (35.39%). The issue is priced at a P/BV of 11.60 based on its NAV of Rs. 33.61 as of June 30, 2024, and is at a P/BV of 7.31 based on its post-IPO NAV of Rs. 53.36 per share (at upper cap). If we attribute annualized FY25 earnings to a post-IPO fully diluted equity base, then the asking price is at a negative P/E, and based on FY24 earnings also, it is at a negative P/E, as the company has posted losses for those periods. On other parameters, the issue appears aggressively priced," it further adds. Gaurav Garg, research analyst at Lemonn Markets Desk, notes that it might take some time for Swiggy to reach Zomato's level, both in terms of valuation and AOV (average order value). Swiggy's valuation has been pegged at about Rs 95,000 crore, at the upper price band, while Zomato has a market valuation of Rs 2.13 lakh crore. "Almost 50% valuation compared to Zomato gives some comfort, although it should not be considered an arbitrage in valuation. If Swiggy’s EBITDA catches up to 3-4% in the food delivery business, which is currently at 1%, and Average Order Value (AOV) improves to Rs. 550-600 levels in quick commerce with a higher non-grocery share, we can see bridging in the valuation gap. However, this should not be expected in the near term," he adds.

New Delhi: Online food delivery platform <keyword id="19901323" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Zomato" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Zomato" meta.hostid="83" meta.entityid="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> will acquire <keyword id="19898109" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Paytm" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Paytm" meta.hostid="83" meta.entityid="Paytm">Paytm</keyword>'s entertainment <keyword id="20028334" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ticketing" source="keywords">ticketing</keyword> business for Rs 2,048 crore to strengthen its "going-out" segment in a deal that will help the troubled fintech firm to sharpen its focus on core payments and financial services distribution. Paytm's entertainment ticketing business covers movies, sports, and events (live performances). The boards of Zomato and One 97 Communications Ltd (OCL) have approved the all-cash deal. As part of this agreement, OCL's entertainment ticketing business will transfer business to its 100 per cent subsidiaries Orbgen Technologies Pvt Ltd (OTPL) and Wasteland Entertainment Pvt Ltd (WEPL), followed by the sale of 100 per cent stake in these subsidiaries (which operate the TicketNew and Insider platforms) to Zomato. Subsequently, Zomato will spin off the new business into a new app called 'District'. Under the deal, Zomato will fully acquire Orbgen Technologies Pvt Ltd (OTPL), which is into movie ticketing, for Rs 1,264.6 crore and buy Wasteland Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which is into events ticketing for Rs 783.8 crore. The combined entertainment ticketing business has a scale of Rs 297 crore in revenue and Rs 29 crore in adjusted EBITDA in FY24. "The transfer will also include around 280 existing employees from the entertainment ticketing business," OCL said in a statement, adding that the transaction generates significant profits for Paytm and cash proceeds will further strengthen the balance sheet. Announcing the deal, Paytm said it allows the fintech to strengthen its focus on core payments and financial services distribution. Paytm said with its strong focus on long-term value creation, the company remains confident in substituting revenue from its entertainment ticketing business by expanding core business areas of payments and financial service distribution. "This move allows us to continue focusing on long-term growth in our core areas and value creation for all stakeholders," a Paytm spokesperson said. On the other hand, Zomato Managing Director and CEO <keyword id="19901325" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="deepinder-goyal" source="keywords">Deepinder Goyal</keyword> in a letter to shareholders said, "The proposed acquisition helps us add more scale and offer newer use-cases (like movie and sports ticketing) to our customers in this segment". Zomato believes the deal makes it more relevant to its customers and gives an opportunity to spin off the business into a new app. "We are going to call it District, which could be a game changer for each of these use cases given the need for a single brand as a destination in this segment," Goyal added. Zomato is keen to position 'District' as the brand that consumers turn to when they are thinking of going out, he added. OTPL was incorporated on November 23, 2007, in India. It is in the business of listing and sale of movie tickets and other services. It had a turnover of Rs 13.14 crore in the fiscal ended March 31, 2024. WEPL was incorporated on December 21, 2015. It is in the business of listing and sale of event tickets and other services. Its turnover in the FY24 was Rs 236.03 crore. Paytm said the move to sell its entertainment ticketing business underscores its core focus on payments and financial services distribution. "In recent quarters, the company has also expanded its offerings in insurance, equity broking, and wealth distribution, with a significant opportunity to cross-sell these services and grow its market presence as a leading financial services distribution player," Paytm said. During a transition period (up to 12 months), the movie and event tickets will continue to be available on the Paytm app, as well as on the TicketNew and Insider platforms, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted experience for users and merchant partners. Paytm said the deal underscores its success in building businesses and creating value for shareholders. Zomato's Goyal said the District app is expected to be launched anytime in the next few weeks. Post this acquisition, he said Zomato's going-out business would be spread across multiple different platforms. Its existing going-out business (dining-out + event ticketing) would continue to run on the Zomato app, and the acquired business -- movie, sports and event ticketing -- would continue to run on Paytm's main app for a transition period of up to 12 months, along with Insider and TicketNew apps. Both of these would get transferred to Zomato as part of the transaction. District app will duplicate the offerings above and over time, we will gradually nudge our customers to move from the Zomato, Paytm, Insider, and TicketNew apps to the District app. "Once most customers start transacting on the District app, we will remove the duplication and shut down this business on all the other apps. Eventually, there will just be a button to launch the District app on the Zomato app (like it is for Blinkit today) so that we continue to tap into the large customer base of Zomato," he added.

Zomato to acquire Paytm's entertainment ticketing business for Rs 2,048 crore

<ul><li><keyword id="830092" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zomato" source="Orion">Zomato</keyword>’s promise to turn net profit positive in a year has cheered investors. </li><li>Margins in its core food delivery business has hit a multi-quarter high. </li><li>The worry? Monthly transacting users and gross order value has declined versus the previous reported quarter. </li><li>Nomura believes Zomato will find it difficult to achieve double-digit contributory margin with high growth in the long term </li></ul>Two years after it listed on the bourses, Zomato is on a recovery path. The stock which hit a high of over ₹150 per share fell sharply subsequently to below ₹50 a piece. However, the last quarter (Q1FY24) has seen a recovery from that level and it has now surpassed its listing price of ₹76. The stock has been rising steadily in the last three weeks, after its Q4 earnings report where it turned EBITDA positive in its core business, without including Blinkit, its quick commerce business. EBITDA is net income (earnings) with interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation. Moreover, the management also promised to turn positive not just at the consolidated adjusted EBITDA level but also at the profit after tax level in a year. Financial services company, JM Financial says this commitment is the ‘cherry on the cake’. “Tough macro posed growth headwinds but management showed urgency on profitability and that was despite the Gold programme launch,” said Jefferies. Zomato Gold is a subscription plan that offers free deliveries within a 10-kilometre radius for orders above ₹199. During the quarter, as many as 30% of the gross order value, from 1.8 million customers, came from Gold. The Gold plan could hurt its contributory margins (CM) because of its inability to charge every order. Yet, as of Q4, its CM in core food delivery business are comfortable after hitting a multi-quarter high. Contributory margins represent the incremental money generated for each unit sold after deducting the variable portion of the costs. “The core business milestone was achieved mainly on the back of solid expansion in the food delivery contribution margin to 5.8% in Q4 vs 5.1% in Q3. This was because profitability levers such as improvement in restaurant commissions and ad income, and lower discounts/variable cost offset the adverse impact of Gold launch,” said JM Financial. Ordering effects After the post-pandemic boom effects faded away, a lot of consumption patterns have changed, also evident in consumer spending on fast food — impacting growth in quick service restaurants. These headwinds have been impacting Zomato as well. The growth in Zomato’s food delivery business seems to have flatlined. Food gross order value declined 2% quarter-on-quarter, even as it grew 12% year-on-year. Moreover, its monthly transacting users (MTU) declined by 5% QoQ to 16.6 million, while growing at 6% YoY. Apart from the one-time impact of its decision to exit from 225 cities, the company attributes MTU decline to optimised marketing spend and withdrawal of the human support interface for abusive customer cohorts. “Also because of Zomato Gold, the MTUs have come down and not gone up because we do see an impact of clubbing some orders in the same households, which might have just a single membership,” Akshant Goyal, chief financial officer of Zomato said in an earnings concall. The management, however, remains confident about food delivery ordering going up in the first quarter of FY24. Analysts, on the other hand, are not too confident about their ability to sustain growth beyond the first quarter as summer holiday and IPL impact during April/May are one-off events. Its other businesses, however, continue to display good growth. Blinkit’s gross order value grew 17% QoQ, while order volume grew 24%. Revenues of Hyperpure, its business to supply ingredients to restaurants, grew 13.5% QoQ. Offsetting margins with growth While it’s on a path to profitability, Zomato is also caught between a rock and a hard place — of growth versus margins. To boost growth, it will have to go in for discounts – the lack of aggressive discounting by all players is already visible in the moderation in food ordered during the IPL season, generally a big occasion for online food platforms. This year, the IPL spike in food ordering was at a modest 7% for the industry as compared to the 2020 IPL when it was over 50%, as per Redseer. This time, there were no high <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/ipl-2023-sees-tier-2-cities-order-more-on-swiggy-zomato/articleshow/100673879.cms">decibel ads along with deep discounts.</a> Like other players in the business, the company will also find it tough to keep up with the high margin trajectory, while also chasing growth. “Overall, we lower our growth assumptions for its food delivery’s gross order value growth, from around 20% to around 17%, but raise our FY24F contributory margin estimate from 5.8% to 6.5%. We continue to believe Zomato will find it difficult to achieve double-digit contributory margin, with high growth in the long term,” said Nomura. Restaurant commissions grow but may hit an ONDC wall In the last two years, the company was also able to improve take rates or the commissions it charges restaurants consistently. Its take rates are now close to 18%. “Broadly, with our take rates, the mission is to be competitive, and we are lower than what the competition is charging. So, as we continue to add more value to restaurant businesses, we expect some improvement in commission revenue going forward,” said Goyal. But competition is heating up in the sector. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has breached the territory that was hitherto dominated by Zomato along with Swiggy. On the face of it, it might seem like restaurants might be offered better terms on ONDC. While Zomato will be able to compete with ONDC on efficiency and also even overall costs – as third party deliveries might be costlier– HSBC Global Research believes that it might flatten growth. “Estimates for food delivery revenue in the long term remain largely unchanged. Our short-term estimates change slightly as we build in a marginally slower increase in take rate,” the research firm said. In spite of short-term and long-term challenges ahead, Zomato seems to have settled into its listed company status to deliver value to investors by chasing topline growth instead of customers, with discounts.

With Zomato rallying over 25% in the past month, street looks at the road ahead

<ul><li>While Zomato’s sales have been increasing, the food delivery giant is still unable to make profits on account of huge expenses led by discounts and marketing.</li><li>It posted a net loss of ₹1,222 crore for the March quarter, which is an increase of nearly 50% since last year.</li><li>However, analysts believe the food delivery business has a huge potential as it is estimated to be a $110 billion opportunity by 2025.</li><li>Both Zomato and its rival Swiggy together hold 90-95% market share in India’s food delivery business.</li></ul>Food delivery company Zomato has been reeling under the pressure to turn profitable since July last year, <a href="http://a-strong-public-market-debut-at-51-premium-shares-open-at-115/articleshow/84667265.cms">the day it went public </a>and raised over ₹9,000 crore from the public. Since its listing, Zomato investors have seen their wealth decline by half, and there seems to be no letting up yet. Brokerages believe there might be a chance for the company to woo investors in a few years as there lies a huge opportunity in front of them. According to a report by JM Financial, Zomato’s path to operational profitability (also known as EBITDA profitability) requires two things. EBITDA is short for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation. “We believe order volumes and contribution margin per order are two key variables that would determine Zomato’s path to profitability. Our analysis suggests the company can turn profitable in FY25 on a cash EBITDA basis if it were to reach annual order volumes of 1 billion (2.5x FY20 levels) and a contribution margin of around ₹21 per order,” said the report. Adding to it, the report says it sees a ramp-up beyond the food ecosystem can also provide incremental growth. It expects Zomato to follow global peers in terms of expanding beyond food delivery and explore adjacencies in the form of grocery delivery, alcohol delivery, medicine delivery, on-demand delivery and insta shopping. Its recent investment in Grofers and a majority stake in Fitso is a validation of expansion into adjacent areas, states the report. Gen Z population offers attractive growth opportunities to Zomato The number of online shoppers in India is <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/ecommerce/news/india-will-have-more-ecommerce-users-by-2025-than-us-population/articleshow/92062424.cms">expected to grow </a>to 300- 350 million by FY25 from 100-110 million in FY20 according to Bain &amp; Company. “With around 10 million monthly active users, the current penetration rate for Zomato within the online product shopper base works out to around 10%. We expect this penetration to increase to around 15% over the next 5 years, effectively growing the monthly active user base of Zomato to 45 million by FY26,” said the report. The brokerage expects the growth to be driven by the growing share of millennials/Gen Z in the ‘earning’ population and fast-growing e-commerce penetration beyond Tier-1 cities. Customer addition remains strong, but 9 out of 10 orders are from old users New customer additions by Zomato remained strong in Jan-Mar with around 5.5 million new additions. However, more than 90% of its food delivery business is being driven by repeat users compared to new users. “The company expects growth in the near term to be driven by repeat customers as there is substantial room for improvement in average annual ordering frequency (which is around 10 per user per year),” said the report by JM Financial. Zomato now operates in more than 1,000 cities across India as it added 300 plus new cities in Jan-Mar. Top 8 cities contributed around 60% to gross order value. However, its losses continue to swell, ballooning by nearly 50% in the March quarter to ₹1,222 crore, when compared to the previous year. Zomato’s path to profitability in the next three years requires two things, say analysts

The new rates were effective from January 1. New Year's Eve saw Zomato temporarily increasing its platform fee as high as ₹9 per order in certain markets. The company's shares opened high (hovering around ₹126 in morning) on Tuesday after international brokerage firm CLSA remained bullish on its stock. In August last year, Zomato introduced a ₹2 platform fee to improve its margins and become profitable. The company later increased the platform fee to ₹3 before raising it again on January 1 to ₹4. The new platform fee is levied on all customers, including Zomato Gold. “This has been one of the ways of improving profitability for Zomato - apart from ad revenue, delivery charges and higher commission from restaurants - as margin levers. Zomato does about 85 - 90 crore orders annually - an increase in each Re 1 convenience fee will lead to a positive impact of ₹85-90 crore on EBITDA - which is around 5% positive impact on EBITDA,” says Karan Taurani, Senior Vice President-Research Analyst at Elara Capital. However, he says that constant increase in delivery/platform fee may enable lower growth rates for order volume and one would need to monitor potential impact of this on order volume growth. Zomato and its quick commerce platform Blinkit saw highest-ever orders and bookings on the New Year's Eve, compared to previous years. "We have delivered almost as many orders on NYE 23 as we did on NYE 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 combined. Excited about the future!" Zomato Founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal posted on X. Albinder Dhindsa, CEO, Blinkit said they crossed the total number of orders they did on NYE 2022 in the evening only. "We've already hit highest-ever orders in a day, OPM (orders per minute), soft drinks and tonic water sold in a day, chips sold in a day, tips given to riders in a day (thank you India)," Dhindsa informed. Meanwhile, Zomato received notices from the tax authorities in Delhi and Karnataka over alleged short payment of goods and services tax (GST) amounting to ₹4.2 crore. Zomato said it will appeal against the tax demand notices. This came after Zomato received ₹400 crore show-cause notice from the goods and services tax authorities over unpaid dues collected as "delivery charges". With inputs from IANS

This comes as the company reported a widening of losses in the October-December quarter. These cities contributed 0.3% to Zomato’s gross order value (GOV) in Q3FY23. The company said that, “Performance of these cities was not very encouraging in the past few quarters and we did not feel the payback period on our investments in these cities was acceptable.” Analysts at ICICI Securities said that the exit in these cities “indicates disenchantment with a long tail of sub-scale operations.” While the new-age company disappointed investors with more losses this quarter, the management said that although the demand environment remains challenging, they are seeing green shoots of demand coming back in recent weeks. The company believes that the worst may be behind it. “We believe that the long-term opportunity remains large and exciting. We think that the current slowdown is a result of a few temporary factors – a) macro slowdown for the mid-market segment, b) boom in dining out for the premium-end, and c) boom in travel at the premium-end,” said the company in an exchange filing. Zomato posted a loss of ₹347 crore in Q3 FY23 as compared to ₹63 crore loss in the same quarter last year. However, consolidated revenue from operations for the quarter surged 75% on year to ₹1,948 crore. Adding to it, this was the first quarter with consolidation of the grocery business Blinkit. The company informed exchanges that excluding the Blinkit business, Zomato turned positive at the EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) level in January even as the food delivery business witnessed a slowdown. ‘Relaunch of Zomato Gold to boost growth’ Zomato relaunched its membership programme, Zomato Gold in late January. This programme has been built on the lessons learned from the programme’s previous avatar and after taking in feedback from customers, restaurant partners, as well as investors. Analysts at Nuvama Institutional Equities said that the prospects for Zomato’s business going ahead remain bright while it assigned a ‘Buy’ on the stocks. “We believe that Zomato Gold’s relaunch will be a big boost to growth. Adj. EBITDA of ₹230 million (vs. ₹20 million in Q2FY23) in food delivery, despite flattish QoQ GOV growth is a big plus and we remain confident of the company’s ability to generate cash,” said the brokerage firm in a report. "We expect this programme to drive loyalty and higher frequency of ordering going forward, and in less than a month, the Zomato Gold programme has scaled to 900k+ members," said the company. No long-tail effect: Zomato banks on demand recovery in future, even as it shuts operations in 225 cities on poor performance

We will continuously work on improving the quality of our regional app to make them more accurate and contextual," said the food aggregator. The online food delivery platform consolidated net loss decreased to Rs 251 crore for the September quarter, against Rs 430 crore in net loss in the same quarter last year. The revenue went up to Rs 1,661 crore against Rs 1,024 crore in the year-ago period, a significant 62.2 per cent jump, the company had said in a statement. "This is the first quarter where we have crossed the billion dollar annualised revenue mark (at $1.05 billion)," said Zomato. Blinkit's Gross Order Value (GOV) grew 26 per cent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 14.82 billion while the revenue grew 44 per cent quarter-on-quarter. At the time of listing, profit and free cash flow were not even a part of management’s discussion. However, we see a very visible change in approach of management to deliver profit, evidenced, we believe, by the core EBIDTA profitability that was reported recently,” said Macquarie in a report. Nykaa’s EBITDA margins came under pressure and fell to 5.3% in Q3, as against 6.3% in the same period last year. “While we expect Nykaa’s GMV growth, at 35% in FY23E-25E, to be the highest within our global ecommerce coverage, we believe Nykaa’s valuation premium (FY24 EV/GMV of 3.1x vs 0.5x median for peers) already reflects this solid growth outlook and Nykaa’s stronger margin profile,” said a report by Goldman Sachs. PB Fintech on course to profitability soon The December quarter performance of PB Fintech, the parent company of Policybazaar and Paisabazaar, was another surprise for investors as the company narrowed its losses significantly. Sources in the know of the development say that Chinese multinational Alibaba has sold its entire stake in Paytm in today's block deal. With this sale, Alibaba is no longer a stakeholder in Paytm. The company had sold around 3.1 per cent of 6.26 per cent equity in Paytm in January.
