Tech and banking brands accounted for over half of the total value. Six B2B tech brands and 11 consumer tech brands contributed 35% to the total value. Salience– the ability of brands to spring quickly to mind when a consumer has a need was a common feature in India’s Top 10 brands. Tech brands and banks account for half the brand value The list of 75 brands across 23 categories bounced back from the pandemic lows to increase their brand value by a massive 35% CAGR since 2020. India’s top 75 brands are worth a combined $393 billion, equivalent to 11% of India’s GDP. “India’s leading brands have grown at an exceptional rate, despite global economic headwinds, putting the disruption from Covid-19 behind them. Brand owners will need to work harder to identify and build on what makes them worth paying for and ensure ROI on their marketing expenditure to avoid a margin squeeze, ” <keyword id="10859748" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="deepender-rana" source="Orion">Deepender Rana</keyword>, executive MD - South Asia, Insights Division, Kantar said. Between August 2014 and June 2022, the equity index Sensex gained 63.8%, while the brand value of these companies rose 81.8%, claimed Kantar. As many as 11 consumer tech brands made it to the list and also contributed to 11% of the total brand value. The four most valuable brands in the consumer category were Flipkart (No. 12; $8.9 billion), Byju’s (No. 19; $5.5 billion), Swiggy (No. 20; $4.8 billion) and Nykaa (No. 25; $3.7billion). Airtel edges out Jio to lead in telecom Among telecom providers, Airtel stood at number 4 and Jio was placed at number 10. Key newcomers included Vi, ranked number 15 post the merger between Vodafone and Idea. Byju’s stood at number 19, becoming India’s most valuable education brand. As compared to the rest of the world, Indians are more willing to choose environment conscious brands due to ongoing climate change. Overall, 65% of Indians feel anxious about climate change, and 64% believe businesses must play their part, reported Kantar. The highest-ranking brands in the Top 75 are clear on purpose and have a relevant sustainability agenda. Platforms like <keyword id="830092" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="zomato" source="Orion">Zomato</keyword>, ranked 30th, uses climate conscious deliveries by reducing and offsetting carbon emissions. Swiggy and Flipkart also help smaller local brands to connect with consumers via its platform. “Purposeful and sustainable brands are being rewarded. Indian consumers look further than the brand attributes that affect them personally – they want brands to improve people’s lives and have a positive impact on wider society,” Soumya Mohanty, managing director -insights division, Kantar said. TCS is India's most valuable brand worth $45.5 billion: Kantar

<ul><li>In a test delivery, <keyword id="830092" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> carried out a delivery of 5 kgs for a distance of 5 kilometres within 10 minutes. </li><li>Zomato had earlier acquired TechEagle Innovation, a drone startup.</li><li>Zomato is forming a consortium as per DGCA’s guidelines to carry out experimental Beyond Visual Line Of Sight operations.</li></ul>Indian foodtech unicorn Zomato has just announced a successful test delivery using <keyword id="94769" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="drones">drones</keyword> in India. In the run, the drone covered a distance of 5 kilometres in about 10 minutes, with a peak speed of 80 kmph, carrying a load of 5 kgs. “The only possible way to reduce the average 30.5 minutes to 15 minutes is to take the aerial route – roads are not efficient for very fast delivery. We have been working towards building sustainable and safe delivery technology and with our first successful test, food delivery by drones is no longer just a pipe dream,” said Deepinder Goyal, founder and CEO, Zomato. The company said that the drone has inbuilt sensors and an onboard computer to sense and avoid static and dynamic objects, enabling autonomous flights. “They are also capable of taking off vertically like a helicopter, transiting to an airplane mode to cover the distance and then switching back to helicopter mode for vertical landing without requiring any airstrip,” said Zomato. Zomato had acquired TechEagle innovation, a drone startup in December 2018, leading to their experiments with drones. The government too has been paving way for the entry of drones. In 2016, the government announced a new draft policy, under which it proposed to set up a dedicated drone corridor, create drone ports and allow 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in manufacturing the remotely piloted aircraft in the country. This policy also hinted at making room for <keyword id="7749593" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="aerial-delivery">aerial delivery</keyword> of goods in India. However, even after the legalization of the drones (as a ban was lifted), drones still fall in the gray area in terms of government policy. Goyal said that regulatory hurdles are not trivial, and the government’s concerns need to be looked at from various points of view, even as the technology is ready to fly. Zomato just took the lead in drone delivery in India

<ul><li>The <keyword id="6355725" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-group">Tata Group</keyword> is planning to submit a proposal to fly beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drones in India according to a report by the Economic Times. </li><li>The $10 trillion conglomerate has already been involved in commercial tests for crop spraying, using drones. </li><li>The Tata Group has not specified an exact use cases but reportedly plans to use drone solutions for specific applications across its many businesses. </li></ul>The Tata Group is joining the drone race in India and plans to test its unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The $10 trillion conglomerate plans to seek certification from India’s apex drone regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) according to a report by the <a href="https://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/technology/tatas-may-soon-join-queue-for-drone-clearance-from-dgca/69949932">Economic Times</a> before the July 10 deadline. The DGCA <a href="http://dgca.nic.in/tenders/EOI-BVLOS(May2019).pdf">invited applications</a> for companies to showcase their beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drones. The Tata Group sees this as an opportunity to use drones for specific applications across its many businesses, it hasn’t revealed an exact use case. The group has interests in steel, automobiles, retail, power, technology, consumer electronics to name a few. In the past, the Tata Group had commercially tested crop spraying drones. Though the technology is ready, it was awaiting clarity from DGCA to start using it. Tata’s not alone The Tata Group is not the only player to respond the DGCA’s call for BVLOS drones. Delhivery, Zomato, Swiggy, Zipline, ShopX are also looking to certified by the agency to use drones for their services. Zipline, a Silicon Valley company, is also looking to expand its medical delivery drone solutions to India. It already conducts around 500 deliveries in Ghana and Rwanda. RedWing, another medical delivery drone service, has also submitted its application. The company has previously partnered with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to make its services available in Papua New Guinea. More rural than urban Experts who spoke to the Economic Times speculate that regulators are more likely to permit drone flights in rural areas before introducing drones in dense urban settings. They also ascertain that drone application in rural areas can also help the Indian government reduce costs and monitor progress of ongoing infrastructure projects. The Tata Group did not respond to Business Insider India seeking a comment on these developments. Tatas seeks permit to test drones after Zomato, Swiggy and others

<ul><li>Made-in-India drone companies are seeing a boost in sales post ban of drone imports by the government. </li><li>Consumer brands like Swiggy, Zomato, Dunzo and <keyword id="41887" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="biryani" source="Orion">Biryani</keyword> by Kilo have started launching trials for delivery by drones. </li><li>Drones are being used for defense, consumer and delivery purposes. </li><li><keyword id="1605364" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="throttle" source="Orion">Throttle</keyword>, a drone manufacturing company based out of Bangalore, witnessed a 150% growth. </li></ul>Declaring the Indian drone industry as a ‘sunrise sector’, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, under the Ministry of Commerce, banned the import of drones in February. This has given a fillip to homegrown drone companies that are finding innovative uses for these unmanned aerial vehicles. One of India’s leading drone companies <keyword id="7785402" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="throttle-aerospace-systems" source="Orion">Throttle Aerospace Systems</keyword> (TAS) witnessed a 150% growth since the announcement. Even e-commerce companies like Dunzo, Swiggy and Zomato have ventured into the drone delivery space. Last year, Zomato acquired a drone startup <keyword id="6576859" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="techeagle" source="Orion">TechEagle</keyword> to build models that can help deliver essentials and possibly food in the near future. Medicines and Biryani from the sky <keyword id="2757817" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rattanindia" source="Orion">RattanIndia</keyword>’s drone company Neosky in association with TAS, is now planning to also supply drones for e-commerce and consumer-led initiatives besides defence. The companies have partnered with Dunzo, leading hospitals in India and even grocery delivery for Instamart, by Swiggy. At present, they are manufacturing 30 drones per month, aiming to go upto 45-50 units in the near future. Consumer brands like Swiggy recently partnered with Garuda Aerospace and Throttle to launch doorstep deliveries for groceries through Instamart. Its trials have already begun across Delhi-NCR and Bangalore. Another startup Biryani by Kilo delivered Biryani to eight influencers post the launch of eight stores in Hyderabad. As of now, the drone space in India is extensively being used in the defense sector and helping with delivery of average payload commodities. “We can see consumer led drones picking up but before that we would need designated drone corridors by the government. As of now, drones would be extensively used in the defense sector or for average load deliveries. Though it is exciting to witness food being delivered by a drone, it is further down the future,” said Sarath Chandra <keyword id="14985844" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="gudlavalleti" source="Orion">Gudlavalleti</keyword>, CEO of Neosky. The government too had founded extended uses for drones. During the pandemic, a box weighing 12 kilos of medicines and 20 vials of vaccines was delivered to rural parts of Telangana through drones in an initiative called ‘Medicines from the Sky’. ‘Laws for this sector are still being made’ The government is taking active steps to boost domestic manufacturing of drones. On July 6, 2022, India’s aviation ministry released the second provisional list of 23 beneficiaries of the production-linked incentives (PLI) scheme for the drone industry. Combined annual sales turnover of PLI beneficiaries in the drone industry reached ₹3.19 billion in 2021-22 from ₹880 million the previous year. “A welcome change by the government was to stop drone imports which has boosted Make In India drone companies. Dividing India’s airspace into Red, Green and Amber zones has also helped. But laws for this sector are still being made as it is very new,” said Gudlavalleti. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has divided the Indian airspace into three zones- Green (no permission required), Amber (controlled airspace) and Red (no drones allowed). The government also launched a DigitalSky platform in January 2022 for verification of Made in India drones. The drone defender Through small steps, the Indian government is also opening the door for commercial use of drones during disaster management and even economic mapping. Beginning April 2022, all drone operators have been allowed to promote secure operations without needing multiple approvals by possessing a valid UIN. Throttle is one such beneficiary. On Thursday, RattanIndia through their drone company Neosky assisted with manufacturing company Throttle launched a ‘drone defender.’ It was unveiled by Minister General <keyword id="6364699" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="v-k-singh" source="Orion">V K Singh</keyword>, MOS Aviation Ministry at Air Force Auditorium during the ‘Unmanned Aerial Systems India 2022’ event on September 13. “This drone is 70% indegenious and launches a soft-kill against approaching rogue drones without any human intervention. Instead of using direct attack, this drone will pull down the attacker by shooting a net,” said <keyword id="14985845" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nagander-ramaswamy" source="Orion">Nagander Ramaswamy</keyword>, CEO of drone manufacturing company TAS. “We have acquired a 60% stake in Throttle and hope to build our capacity further,” said Gudlavalleti. Underpasses are submerged, potholes turn into mines that cars have to navigate through; and lack of drainage systems turns roads into swimming pools. This year, the <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/india/delhi-high-court-suggests-use-of-drones-to-identify-water-logging-sites-in-city-during-monsoon-2231843.html">Delhi High Court</a> suggested that the city rope drones to identify and keep an eye on the areas in the city that are vulnerable to excessive water collection. This will help take care of traffic congestion as well as water logging, <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/drone-cams-to-help-wr-stay-on-track-during-rains/articleshow/69299444.cms">The Western Railways</a> in Mumbai too has learnt lessons from last year. It has already contracted drones to keep an eye on the Virar-Nalasopara area, which is prone to water logging. Technology vs the monsoon Drones are already used to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/mumbai-must-brace-for-floods-this-week-says-a-private-weather-forecaster/articleshow/70029004.cms">predict</a> weather patterns and rainfall. But, this is the first time that the governments are using drones for traffic surveillance and keep a check on water logging. In Delhi, the two-judge bench of Justice GS Sistani and Justice Jyoti Singh said, "We have no hesitation in saying that all the departments would cooperate with each other to ensure that citizens are not inconvenienced during the coming monsoon." The contractors selected by the government will deploy drones with cameras to areas that are known to be vulnerable, and send images back to the data collection point. The operators at the data centers will then decide whether or not there is a risk of water logging at the moment and plan the next action. Before deploying any drones, the police has to approve the use of air space. So far, the Western Railways has only gotten permission for the Virar-Nalasopara area even though other stretches like Frant Road, Prabhadevi, Dadar and Bandra-Khar are also flood prone areas. Too much water or not enough In Delhi, the monsoon is a double-edged sword. There’s waterlogging, on the one hand, and a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/every-household-in-india-will-get-water-supply-by-2024-under-the-jal-jeevan-mission-says-nirmala-sitharaman/articleshow/70086396.cms">shortage of water</a>, on the other. The Delhi High Court has suggested that the city use the opportunity of monsoons to harvest water in water clogged areas, to hit two birds with one stone. However, other than for recreation, they are hardly in use. Since their launch, drones have been used mostly for photography - wedding or travel. Even that had faced issues from authorities. Drones have just failed to take over the Indian skies, as expected, even after the Indian government declared them <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/sectors/aviation/flying-drones-to-be-legal-in-india-from-december-1/story/281690.html">legal.</a> In 2016, the government announced a <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/economy/policy/drone-policy-2-0-india-pitches-for-optimum-utilisation-of-drones-3399661.html">new draft policy</a>, under which it has proposed to set up a dedicated drone corridor, create drone ports and allow 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in manufacturing the remotely piloted aircraft in the country. This could be a big boost for the Indian e-commerce industry. Recently, food tech unicorn Zomato had acquired TechEagle innovation, a drone startup, which fuelled rumours that the company will soon be experimenting with aerial food delivery. “Drones will be an integral part of our lives be it for last mile delivery, security, 3D mapping, agriculture and several other use cases. Food delivery via drones will help reduce the last mile delivery leg and make the process more convenient and cost-effective. <keyword id="6370270" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="unmanned-aerial-vehicles">Unmanned aerial vehicles</keyword> will significantly mitigate the delivery time while also increasing the reach,” said Vikram Singh Meena, Founder, TechEagle. Even with all the ‘supposed’ encouragement from the government in the form of favourable regulation, there are many hurdles that grapple the Indian <keyword id="4005978" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="drone-startups">drone startups</keyword>. “Some of the key challenges which still exists is the timely certification of the drones, readiness by the manufacturers and democratization of the applications, ” said Vipul Singh, CEO and Co-founder, Aarav Unmanned Systems. “Research and Development ecosystem for drones in India is lagging way behind the global ecosystem.” Globally, Amazon declared in 2013 that it will be experimenting drone delivery which sent the entire world into a frenzy. However, cut to 2019 and the global e-retail giant is still <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6583693/Amazon-secretly-testing-delivery-drones-UK-countryside.html">‘testing’ </a>drone delivery. At this stage, Singh believes that Indian drone startup sector is still very small and needs extreme support from the government – which could come in in the form of a drone VC fund, more pilot projects, skill development programs, financial support for working capital, and expedited development of certification and testing centers, among others. He added that with the introduction of regulation, on one hand most of the demands by both the government and private enterprises are going to scale up. On the other hand, most of the benefit will reach companies that follow regulatory compliance and use certified equipment. India has over 40,000 drones, but where are they really?

<ul><li>The Directorate General of <keyword id="6368649" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="civil-aviation">Civil Aviation</keyword> issued ‘<keyword id="2720096" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="drone-regulations">Drone Regulations</keyword> 1.0’ which highlight where, when and how <keyword id="94769" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="drones">drones</keyword> can operate within <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>.</li><li>Civilian drones can fly anywhere in the ‘green zone’ while staying within 450m, in the line of sight. </li><li><keyword id="1995476" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="commercial-drones">Commercial drones</keyword> are now allowed in agriculture, health and relief disaster.</li></ul>Flying drones in India is finally going to be legal starting December 1, 2018. Until now, flying drones in the country, until and unless specifically sanctioned by the government, was illegal. Not illegal in the sense that there was stringent surveillance, but if you got caught, you were definitely in trouble. That being said, it’s never been illegal to buy drones in India. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s new Drone Regulations 1.0 layout the framework for how unmanned aircrafts will be allowed to operate within the country.

 Drone away Even with the new regulation coming in to place, there are few terms and conditions that apply. While the commercial use of drones in sectors like agriculture, health and disaster relief will be allowed, making ‘deliveries’ of any kind didn’t make the cut. That means Zomato and Swiggy can’t use drones to deliver your food, and Amazon and Flipkart will have to wait their turn as well. On the other hand, civilian drones can fly about all they like. That is, during the day and within the visual line of sight, which is around 450m high, making it the ‘green zone’. It’s not that you can’t fly higher, you just need to get police permission to do so since it falls in to the ‘yellow zone’. And, then comes common sense. Civilian or commercial, drones can’t fly around airports, near the international border, near the coast line or around secretariat complexes.Strategic locations, vital and military installations can’t have drone activity either. These are the ‘red zones’. But, for some reason, they can’t be used for wedding photography. Probably due to the frequency and sheer volume of how often weddings happen. Any drone, that isn’t a micro-drone or owned by the <keyword id="145763" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Technical-Research-Organisation">National Technical Research Organisation</keyword>, will have to be registered and issued a Unique Identification Number (UIN). If you break a regulation the least that can happen to you is that your UIN will be cancelled or suspended. On the other hand, if the offence is bad enough, you could be booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. How are they going to enforce all this? Rules and regulations are all well and good, but it’s their actual implementation that will make all the difference. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has come up with something called the Digital Sky Platform. It’s a nifty little tool that the government can use to keep an eye on what your drone is upto. All pilots have to do is register, ask for permission and it will be approved depending on terms put forward in the new set of regulations. The Digital Sky Platform will be in touch with defence and civil air traffic controllers to coordinate drone activity. In case you’re thinking of going rogue, the system has a ‘no permission, no takeoff’ mantra that prevents drones from violating any of the rules. In fact, the SIM card required for drones is put in place for this precisely reason. If your drone violated any rules, like going higher than prescribed or leaving your flight path, that SIM can be used to shut down drone systems entirely. Economic boost Allowing drones to be legally flown around India opens up a whole new sector for entrepreneurs to invest in. There are already number of startups working on drone <keyword id="6355118" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="technology">technology</keyword> or industrial solutions that use drones. The government, from their side, noted that these regulations have been put in place to encourage the Make in India scheme. Former <keyword id="7349800" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bharatpe" source="Orion">BharatPe</keyword> Founder and CEO <keyword id="2988161" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ashneer-grover" source="Orion">Ashneer Grover</keyword> has written his memoir called 'Doglapan' (double standards) - the Hard Truth about Life and Start-ups' which is available for pre-order and will be available next month. Billed as an "unfettered story of <keyword id="12917061" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ashneer" source="Orion">Ashneer</keyword> Grover - the favourite and misunderstood poster boy of Startup India", the memoir is being called a "raw, gut-wrenching in its honesty and completely from the heart, storytelling at its finest". According to the book's brief description on Amazon.in, a young boy with a 'refugee' tag growing up in Delhi's Malviya Nagar outpaces his circumstances by becoming a rank-holder at the pinnacle of academic excellence in India, IIT Delhi. "He goes on to do an MBA from the hallowed halls of IIM Ahmedabad, builds a career as an investment banker at Kotak Investment Banking and AmEx, and is pivotal in the making of two unicorns-Grofers, as CFO, and BharatPe, as co-founder," it reads. He said the book will offer readers "absolute clarity" on life. After swindling fintech platform BharatPe, Ashneer and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover have formed a new company called Third Unicorn Private Ltd, and are set to launch a third startup. Before co-founding BharatPe, Grover was associated with Grofers, which is now a 15-minute delivery platform Blinkit that has been acquired by Zomato for Rs 4,447 crore (about $568 million) in an all-stock deal. According to data accessed through Tofler, the Grovers have now registered a new company to begin their new journey. The nature of the startup is not known yet. Ashneer and Madhuri, former Head of Controls at BharatPe, are both directors of the firm that was founded in July this year. Snapdeal has partnered with autonomous mobility startup Ottonomy IO to deliver ‘sanitized’ packages. During the test run for the robot delivery in Delhi NCR, the robots were placed at the gates of residential societies where a delivery agent came and placed the parcel in a compartment inside the robot. The robot then uses the societies’ map to deliver the goods at the customer’s doorstep. According to the company, these robots are also equipped with ultraviolet lighting to ‘disinfect the packet while navigating to the delivery location’. Snapdeal also said that it is investing heavily in artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop future-oriented capabilities. “We believe that delivery robots will have a unique role to play in e-commerce deliveries in large townships, institutional campuses, and other managed residential environments. <keyword id="8919748" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="contactless-delivery">Contactless delivery</keyword> via robotic vehicles is a step in building a safer and convenient future for shoppers”, said Snapdeal spokesperson. The development from Snapdeal comes at a time when the likes of Zomato, Swiggy, Dunzo are experimenting with drone deliveries. In June, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) gave the official nod to delivery companies like Zomato, Swiggy, Dunzo to begin testing beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drones for deliveries. While ‘robot delivery’ has been an exciting and much talked about venture for a long time now, it has recently taken off globally as well. Global e-commerce giant Amazon also created a new team that will work on autonomous deliveries called <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2020/07/22/amazon-taking-its-scout-delivery-robots-south/5485106002/">Amazon Scout</a>. These robots, like the one by Ottonomy IO, will be able to roll along sidewalks and deliver parcels. While the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for contactless deliveries, it is worthy to note that for robot-led deliveries in India to work, it requires a massive overhaul in infrastructure and policy. Snapdeal says it has just tested deliveries using robots and it was successful

<ul><li>The <keyword id="6354335" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> (RBI) on July 5 has amended rules for overdue fixed deposits (FD) wherein if a depositor does not claim the proceeds after maturity, the bank will charge the lower interest rates applicable from savings rate or contracted interest.</li><li>RBI classifies a deposit as unclaimed when the depositor doesn’t make any transaction in the account for 10 years or more. </li><li>Reportedly, unclaimed deposits with banks have been growing every year. </li></ul>It commonly happens that people do not share basic financial information with their close ones or family members. At times, because of an unfortunate event of a death, the family members are unaware of the financial details of the deceased person. Besides, some of us fail to keep track of multiple bank accounts and fixed deposits (FD) in different banks as we move cities and jobs. Such proceeds, which are not claimed by the depositor, are kept in Depositors Education and Awareness Fund (DEAF), formed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 2014. Deposits from all banks which are inoperative for at least 10 years are transferred into this large pool of unclaimed money. Currently, there is a large amount of money lying unclaimed in such accounts. As of now, more than Rs 82,000 crore of investor wealth is lying unclaimed in forgotten and lost investments, as per <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/wealth/invest/rs-82000-cr-lying-in-unclaimed-bank-a/cs-life-insurance-mutual-funds-pf-how-to-get-your-money-back/articleshow/84089095.cms?from=mdr">ET Wealth estimates</a>. Do interest rates continue on the unclaimed proceeds? Yes, these unclaimed funds will continue to earn interest rates specified by the RBI, and not the rate at which the deposit was made, which are called contracted rates. The RBI has now tweaked rules for interest rates on unclaimed fixed deposits (FD), wherein if depositors forget to claim the proceeds after maturity, the amount left unclaimed will attract interest rate applicable to savings account or contracted rate whichever is lower. Earlier, the interest rates on unclaimed amounts attracted the rate of interest as applicable to savings deposits. This does not make a major difference as interest rates on savings accounts have been decreasing, which means it will always be lower than the contracted rate. RBI classifies a deposit as unclaimed when a depositor doesn’t make any transaction in the account for 10 years or more. The amendment comes when unclaimed deposits with banks have been reportedly growing every year. What should you do to avoid missing such a maturity date? Note down the maturity date of your <keyword id="6568461" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="fds">FDs</keyword> and share these details with your family. Do not forget to mention nominee details. If your home address happens to change, update your banks about the same. It is convenient to collect all proceeds if you have a savings account with all banks you have FDs with. However, if not, remember to opt for an auto renewal option so that your FD is renewed for more years with the prevailing FD rate. Swiggy reported that in March it delivered 1.5 million food orders on cycles. In tier 2 and 3 cities like Surat, Belgaum, Guwahati and Lucknow over 20% of Swiggy’s delivery partners use cycles for delivery. In India, 10,000 delivery partners use cycles, with maximum cyclists in Bangalore followed by Mumbai. “A couple of years back, we initiated concerted efforts to make millions of our deliveries more sustainable for the environment. With close to 10,000 delivery partners on cycles each day, we have found that in some of our cities, the average travel time for a delivery partner on cycles is even lesser than bikes or scooters,” said Srivats TS, VP, Marketing, Swiggy. Swiggy’s competitor Zomato too had introduced delivery through bicycles in February 2019. According to <a href="https://inc42.com/buzz/zomato-enrols-bicycles-e-bikes-for-delivery-in-12-cities/">reports</a>, Zomato had partnered with startups like Mobycy, Yulu, Zoomcar’s PEDL among others to start the delivery service. The next mile of delivery For delivery startups, fast innovation is defining their stand in the industry. Swiggy is piloting the use of Electric Vehicles for its deliveries in 10 cities. Last year, Swiggy’s delivery partners in cities like Delhi and Lucknow carried out deliveries on e-rickshaws. The company’s official statement said that the adoption of EVs will reduce the running cost by 40%. Going one step ahead, Zomato had earlier <a href="https://www.thehindu.com/business/Industry/zomato-acquires-drone-delivery-startup-techeagle/article25671762.ece">acquired</a> drone startup TechEagle innovations. With this, the startup is reportedly testing delivery via drones.
